Job description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to drive new business growth within the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will identify new opportunities, build strategic customer relationships, and manage project-based sales from initial engagement through project completion. This role requires a consultative sales approach, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to collaborate with customers and internal teams to deliver effective solutions.

Position Responsibilities Business Development
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Build relationships with contractors, developers, engineering firms, distributors, utilities, and end users.
  • Prospect through networking, referrals, industry events, and other business development activities.
  • Develop strategic account plans to support long-term growth.
Sales & Account Management
  • Prepare quotations and proposals in collaboration with engineering and estimating teams.
  • Present technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and successfully close new business opportunities.
  • Manage customer relationships throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Project Development
  • Identify project opportunities during the design and planning phases.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions meet project specifications.
  • Support customers with product selection and value-engineering recommendations.
  • Monitor project progress from concept through completion.
Market Development
  • Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products.
  • Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
  • Conduct presentations and educational sessions for customers and industry partners.
  • Gather customer feedback to support future product improvements.
CRM & Sales Reporting
  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales opportunities within CRM systems.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and activity updates.
  • Track key performance metrics and recommend strategies to improve sales performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering, estimating, operations, and leadership teams to support customer projects.
  • Ensure seamless communication throughout the sales and project execution process.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of business development or technical sales experience.
  • Experience selling into one or more of the following industries:
    • Solar PV
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • Electrical construction
    • Industrial or utility markets
  • Strong understanding of project-based sales and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Certification.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Certified Professional Sales Person (CPSP).
  • CRM platform certification.
  • OSHA Safety Certification.
