The City of Elk River is seeking detail-oriented, multi-tasking, team players for part time Liquor Store Clerk positions.  Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent; be 21 years of age or older, and experience with retail stocking and cashiering and municipal liquor store experience is highly preferred.

Application deadline:  Until positions are filled.

Hours available to work are10 to 20 hours per week during these hours... Monday through Friday 3 or 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., Saturday morning or evening shift between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., Sundays 11a.m. to 6 p.m.

This position is eligible for Earned Sick and Safe Time, and PERA benefits if all qualifications are met.

Clerk Starting Pay Rate: $16.18
Clerk Current Pay Range: $16.18 to $21.95 per hour.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Northbound Liquor Store, 19348 Evans Street, Elk River -Westbound Liquor Store, 13484 185th Ave NW, Elk River

Essential Functions

  1. Performs cashier duties.

A. Greets customers in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
B. Rings up sales in accordance with all applicable laws pertaining to alcohol sales.
C. Helps customers select beer, liquor, and wine items.

     2. Performs inventory management activities.

A. Moves merchandise and stock, unloads deliveries, moves stock to and from the storeroom.
B. Stocks merchandise on shelves, in coolers, and on displays.

     3. Performs other essential job duties.

A. Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties to maintain a clean store and orderly merchandise appearance.
B. Completes alcohol compliance certification and recertifications as needed.
C. Gains knowledge of products sold.
D. Regular and timely work attendance. 
E. Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skill in operating a cash register.

  • Ability to quickly and accurately make change.

  • Ability to communicate with the public.

  • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to attend seminars and classes as directed.

  • Ability to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail cashier experience.

  • Knowledge of beer, liquor, and wine items.

  • Municipal Liquor Store experience.
