Position Summary:
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our High-Performance Building Group, supporting facilities and infrastructure projects across the United States. This role will contribute to a diverse portfolio that includes federal, commercial, data center, and microgrid projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise across core civil engineering disciplines, including site design, stormwater management, roadway design, sanitary sewer systems, and watermain design, along with a demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex projects from early planning through final delivery.

  • Lead and manage civil engineering projects including planning, permitting, due diligence, feasibility evaluations, design, development, and construction phase inspections.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and scopes, ensuring adherence to Tetra Tech quality standards and successful project delivery.
  • Lead proposal development efforts and support business development initiatives to meet financial and performance goals.
  • Serve as a technical liaison for clients, participating in meetings, site evaluations, and ongoing coordination to maintain strong client relationships and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze and review project work products, including technical data, engineering calculations, reports, cost estimates, and environmental permit applications.
  • Lead civil design efforts involving site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, roadway design, sanitary sewer systems, and water distribution systems.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations, including relevant agency design and permitting requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, providing technical guidance and leadership to support team development and project success.
  • Monitor work output and maintain the quality of deliverables across assigned projects.
  • Travel throughout the United States for project meetings, client coordination, and site visits as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in stormwater design, land development projects, sanitary sewage distribution systems, water distribution systems, water tower design, and pump station design.
  • Proven track record in proposal leadership and project delivery.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple project tasks and respond effectively to client requests and project schedules.
  • Ability to serve as a primary client contact and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client offices and project sites as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • At least 1 year of prior experience in consulting and/or DoD/contracting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience adapting DoD/Federal standard designs, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) to project-specific requirements for agencies such as ANG, AFCEC, NAVFAC, and USACE using SpecsIntact.
  • Broad technical background across traditional civil engineering disciplines, including site design, stormwater, roadway, sanitary sewer, and watermain design.
  • Experience supporting projects in federal facilities, data centers, and microgrids.

  • Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • When in the field, must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Additional Information

  • The anticipated pay range for this position is $110,000-$125,000. However, the pay offered may vary depending on primary work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Travel between sites or offices will be required, with employees expected to operate vehicles safely under varying weather, traffic, and environmental conditions.
  • Travel to field and meeting sites is estimated to be approximately 20% of the time.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST/CST.
  • This position offers flexibility to work fully remote, hybrid, or in-office.
  • Occasional non-standard hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
