Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their unique treatment needs and mental health concerns.
• Provide individualized and group therapy sessions that focus on emotional and psychological issues stemming from aging, bereavement, and significant life changes.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary health teams to create holistic care plans that align with both clinical guidelines and the specific needs of geriatric patients.
• Educate family members and staff on mental health best practices, facilitating impactful discussions about enhancing emotional well-being among seniors.
• Deliver specialized grief and loss counseling, supporting both clients and families who are navigating end-of-life issues.
• Implement evidence-based cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions aimed at maintaining and improving mental acuity in elderly populations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This counseling position focuses primarily on seniors who face significant life changes, including chronic illness, loss of loved ones, and age-related challenges. We aim to foster a supportive atmosphere where older adults feel valued and understood, ensuring that services are culturally sensitive and tailored to their diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• At least 4 years of recent experience providing mental health services in a geriatric setting.
• Strong understanding of geriatric mental health issues, along with the ability to adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs of senior clients.
• Proficiency in conducting thorough assessments, creating individualized therapies, and applying evidence-based interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster trust and engage effectively with elderly individuals and their families.
• Empathy and cultural competence when addressing the needs of an elderly clientele.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing mental health counseling in a geriatric context.

Preferred Experience

• Additional training or specialization in the areas of geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience implementing cognitive and behavioral therapies tailored for aging populations.
• Familiarity with contemporary tools and methodologies used in mental health assessment and treatment.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $105,000 annually, along with a sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. Our benefits package includes:
