Job Summary

Launch your tech career with ActiveProspect! We're searching for a driven Workday Systems Administrator to join our expanding team. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our Workday HCM platform and the connected business systems that support it. You'll configure business processes and security, manage user roles and access controls, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and be responsible for integrations directly impacting our core business processes and contributing to the company's success.

Responsibilities:

As the primary systems administrator for Workday, you'll oversee all aspects of the platform, including integrations with Salesforce, NetSuite, and other critical applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operate as the primary administrator and architectural lead for the Workday platform, including Core HCM and connected modules such as Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent & Performance, Learning, and Reporting.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Workday business processes, workflows, notifications, calculated fields, and condition rules to meet evolving business and operational needs.
  • Administer Workday security, including role-based access, security group design, periodic access reviews, segregation of duties, and compliance monitoring.
  • Manage Workday semi-annual releases and feature updates, including impact analysis, regression testing, and validation.
  • Build and maintain Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) files for mass data loads, and complete bulk imports and exports of data.
  • Work closely with the integration engineer on integrations between Workday and other critical systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, and payroll platforms) to support HR, finance, and business operations.
  • Manage configuration migration and deployments from sandbox/development tenants to production.
  • Create and refine reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business decision-making and continuously monitor data quality and integrity.
  • Serve as the escalation point and technical liaison for Workday help desk tickets and end-user support.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Payroll, and IT.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Applications teammates to implement best practices from across our application ecosystem.
  • Cross-train on other core business systems (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora) and serve as a backup administrator to provide coverage and support across the broader application ecosystem as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong security practices, access controls, and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance, including the implementation and monitoring of internal controls, documentation of processes, periodic audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, and support during external audit reviews.
  • Participate in integration testing and data validation between Workday and other enterprise systems, such as Salesforce and NetSuite.
  • Keep abreast of new Workday features and functionality, providing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Proactively identify system enhancements and innovative solutions to optimize processes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM administration experience across multiple modules.
  • Strong proficiency configuring Workday business processes, security roles and groups, calculated fields, condition rules, and notifications.
  • Solid understanding of Workday security administration, data governance, and system controls.
  • Experience building and running EIBs for mass data loads, imports, and exports.
  • Experience managing Workday's semi-annual releases, including regression testing and validation across tenants.
  • Experience with integrations between Workday and other enterprise systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, payroll).
  • Proficiency developing Workday reports and dashboards, and using Excel to analyze data. Strong Excel knowledge is required.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent requests in a ticket-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and clear written documentation.
  • Workday Pro certification in one or more modules preferred.
  • General systems administration experience with other enterprise business applications preferred, with the flexibility and interest to cross-train and serve as a backup administrator for additional systems over time.

Reports to:

  • VP – IT, Security & Business Systems

Organizational Impact

  • This role ensures the Workday platform behind our HR, finance, and business operations stays reliable, secure, and compliant.
