Position Overview

Riverside Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work from anywhere in Long Beach, California, allowing you to deliver essential mental health services to our diverse client population. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to conduct in-depth evaluations, develop tailored treatment plans, and provide supportive therapy sessions, both individually and in groups, with a focus on improving the mental health and well-being of our clients.

Working remotely, our Licensed Mental Health Counselors have the opportunity to engage with clients from the comfort of their own homes or chosen environments. This role includes utilizing telehealth technology to conduct therapy sessions and maintain records, ensuring that all interactions are both confidential and compliant with healthcare regulations. Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive initial assessments, including psychological evaluations to establish clients' mental and emotional health needs.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices tailored to each client's specific challenges.
  • Facilitating individual, couples, and group therapy sessions, utilizing various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Monitoring clients' progress throughout their treatment journey, adjusting plans as necessary to align with their evolving needs.
  • Documenting case notes meticulously in our electronic health record system, specifically AVATAR, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping for all client interactions.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nursing staff, to deliver coordinated care.
  • Providing psychoeducation to clients and their family members regarding mental health issues and treatment options.
  • Identifying potential barriers to progress and actively working to mitigate factors that may hinder recovery.
  • Managing and facilitating referrals to additional services as necessary, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support.
Patient Population / Client Focus

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role as a mental health counselor, with a strong foundation in clinical practices.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records systems, particularly AVATAR.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with clients experiencing co-occurring disorders, including mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Familiarity with the guidelines and best practices set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • In-depth understanding of psychotropic medications and their impact on treatment outcomes.
