What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Web3 professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Web3 professional, you need a strong foundation in blockchain technologies, smart contract development (often using Solidity or Rust), and decentralized application (dApp) architecture, usually supported by relevant programming experience. Familiarity with tools such as Ethereum, Web3.js, wallet integrations, Git, and sometimes certifications like Certified Blockchain Developer is highly valuable. Excellent self-management, problem-solving abilities, and clear remote communication skills help differentiate top performers in distributed teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for building reliable decentralized solutions, staying current with rapidly evolving technologies, and collaborating effectively in remote, often global, work environments.

What does a remote Web3 professional do in a typical day, and how do they interact with their team?

A typical day for a Remote Web3 professional involves collaborating on decentralized application development, reviewing and writing smart contracts, and participating in code reviews or virtual sprint meetings. Communication largely happens through online platforms like Slack, Discord, or GitHub, as teams are often distributed across various time zones. You'll likely spend part of your day keeping up with the latest developments in blockchain technology and participating in community discussions. Close collaboration with product managers, UX designers, and other backend or frontend developers is common to ensure secure and user-friendly solutions. The remote nature of the role requires strong self-discipline and proactive communication to stay aligned with the project's goals.

Job description

Consensys is the leading blockchain and web3 software company. Founded by Joe Lubin, CEO of Consensys and Co-Founder of Ethereum in 2014, Consensys has been at the forefront of innovation, pioneering technological developments within the web3 ecosystem.
The financial system is being rebuilt on open, programmable infrastructure, and Consensys is helping power that transition. From MetaMask, the platform trusted by tens of millions of users worldwide, to Linea, the only 100% proven zkEVM rollup and an emerging home for institutional ETH capital, Consensys builds products and infrastructure that enable users, developers, and institutions to participate in the next generation of the internet.
Our mission is to unlock the collaborative power of communities by making the decentralized web universally easy to access, use, and build on.
Joining Consensys means working with a fully remote, globally distributed team of technologists, designers, cryptographers, product thinkers, and researchers who are building the next layer of the internet. You'll be exposed to new ideas, emerging technologies, and complex challenges that push you to stay at the top of your game while helping scale products and infrastructure used by tens of millions of users and thousands of developers across the web3 ecosystem. You'll join a network of builders that reaches the edge of our ecosystem. Consensys alumni have moved on to become tech entrepreneurs, CEOs, and team leads at tech companies.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our Growth Marketing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for setting the strategy and executing on lifecycle campaigns across all Consensys products. You'll look for opportunities to ensure we are bringing a level of personalization in our communication to our users such that every touch point is driving value for our customers and the business.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of taking projects from start to finish with deep experience leveraging customer data to inform their strategy. You've developed multiple lifecycle programs at scale, have conducted hundreds of A/B tests, and have even launched new lifecycle channels from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
  • Oversee the lifecycle strategy across Consensys' product offering (e.g. in-app notifications, in-app banners, push notifications, full screen modals,, etc)
  • Determine the channel and messaging throughout a user's lifecycle (new user education, activation, engagement, retention)
  • Comfortable working end-to-end on a lifecycle campaign (through setting the strategy, briefing the creative team, building the targeting, QAing the campaign, and measuring results)
  • Develop an experimentation roadmap across lifecycle channels. Continuously test and learn, identifying the most effective content and messages for different audiences.

About You
  • 4-8 years of experience in lifecycle marketing
  • Have built lifecycle user journeys from the ground up with little to no oversight on large userbases
  • Excellent project management skills to manage multiple experiments at different points in their development
  • Practical experience executing in CEP systems such as Braze
  • Familiar with marketing and analytical tools like Segment, Mixpanel, and Preset
  • Self starter who is data-driven, results-oriented and customer-obsessed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clarify complex ideas in a way that a broad audience can understand
  • You thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Web3 experience will be a bonus

Don't meet all the requirements? Don't sweat it. We're passionate about building a diverse team of humans and as such, if you think you've got what it takes for our chaotic-but-fun, remote-friendly, start-up environment-apply anyway, detailing your relevant transferable skills in your cover letter. While we have a pretty good idea of what we need, we're ready for you to challenge our thinking on who needs to be in this role.
It is a requirement of employment in this position that applicants will be required to submit to background checks including but not limited to employment, education and criminal record checks. Further details will be provided to applicants that successfully meet the criteria for the position as determined by the company in its sole discretion. By submitting an application for employment, you are acknowledging and consenting to this requirement.
The salary range listed for this role applies to US-based candidates only. Compensation for candidates based outside the US (including Canada, EMEA, and LATAM) will be determined based on location, experience, and skills during the interview process, and may differ from the listed US range.
US pay range (not including bonus, equity or other benefits)
$115,000-$162,000 USD
In the rapidly evolving Web3 space, we believe that everyone is a builder. This expansive paradigm requires a range of backgrounds, talents, skills, and experiences to influence and shape the future. At Consensys, this diversity fuels our ability to shift control and redefine the realm of possibility. We are committed to ensuring that our technology empowers people and communities with economic and political agency through decentralized technologies. We welcome the range of perspectives and differences and celebrate them. We're excited to see how your unique skills as a builder can contribute to our vision, drive innovation, and help us shape a more inclusive Web3.
