As an integral member of our team, you will provide critical mental health support and services to students in a vibrant educational environment. This full-time, remote position is focused on promoting the emotional well-being and resilience of students, ensuring they have the necessary tools to thrive academically and personally.

Work EnvironmentThis position is designed to be remote, supporting the dynamic needs of a private school setting in Islip, New York. The work schedule runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional evening and weekend shifts to ensure comprehensive mental health coverage for students. You will connect with students through virtual sessions and work closely with school staff, ensuring a unified approach to student well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough mental health assessments, taking into account each student's personal background, current issues, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with students to develop and implement tailored treatment plans aimed at addressing their mental health challenges and promoting emotional stability.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused therapy to effectively support students.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions that empower students to develop coping strategies, enhance emotional regulation, and foster personal growth.
- Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques and referral processes when higher levels of care are required.
- Offer psychoeducational resources and sessions to students and their families, equipping them with the knowledge to recognize mental health concerns and understand available treatment options.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including participation in team meetings and case conferences to enhance skills and promote collaborative practices.
The focus of this role is on a diverse student population within the school, including children and adolescents facing a range of mental health challenges. These may vary from anxiety and depression to trauma-related conditions, necessitating adaptable and culturally sensitive approaches to care. By working closely with these students, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing their academic experience and emotional well-being.
Qualifications- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Current, valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure in New York state.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, ideally within mental health or educational settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatments, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Proficient in conducting thorough mental health assessments and developing wayfinding treatment plans.
- Experience in delivering individual and group therapy using a variety of therapeutic techniques.
- Strong crisis management skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate building trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
- A keen sense of ethical practice and a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience working specifically within school systems or with child and adolescent populations.
- Knowledge of community resources available for youth mental health support.
