Job description

Job Summary:
Saviance is a company seeking an experienced System Administrator for a short-term contract engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment built on Omnissa Horizon within a VMware ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
• Deploy, configure, and manage Omnissa Horizon environments including Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways (UAG), and App Volumes
• Administer and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi infrastructure supporting Horizon deployments
• Configure and manage desktop pools (persistent and non-persistent/floating), published applications, and Smart Policies
• Troubleshoot and resolve VDI performance, connectivity, and user experience issues
• Implement and maintain Horizon security configurations including SSL/TLS, two-factor authentication, and network policies
• Monitor infrastructure health and performance using Horizon monitoring tools and VMware vROps
• Manage user entitlements, group policies, and role-based access control (RBAC) within Horizon
• Collaborate with network and security teams on firewall rules, DNS, and load balancer configurations
• Produce documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and handover materials
• Support end-users and internal IT teams with escalated VDI-related issues
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3–6 years of system administration experience with a focus on VDI/virtual desktop environments
• Hands-on implementation and management experience with Omnissa Horizon (v7.x, 8.x, or later)
• Strong working knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
• Experience deploying and configuring Unified Access Gateway (UAG) and Connection Servers
• Proficiency with Horizon desktop pools, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM)
• Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server environments
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VLANs, load balancing, firewall rules
• Experience with SSL certificates management and Horizon security hardening
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• VMware or Omnissa certifications strongly preferred (VCP-DTM, VCAP-DTM, or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently in a remote setting
• Availability to start immediately upon contract execution
Preferred:
• VMware Certified Professional — Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) or equivalent certification
• Experience with VMware NSX or NSX-T networking
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted Horizon deployments (Azure VMware Solution, AWS SDDC)
• Exposure to Workspace ONE / Unified Endpoint Management (UEM)
• Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation of Horizon management tasks
• Experience with monitoring tools such as VMware vROps, Lakeside SysTrack, or ControlUp
