Responsibilities
The Sr Solution Architect, Modern Infrastructure, for the Center of Excellence (COE) works independently with little or no direct supervision under the guidance general supervision of the Director, Solution Sales COE within the Technical Solutions group. The Sr Solution Architect's primary objective is to drive sales growth of advanced technology solutions and services for all Connection business units through advanced pre-sales technical consulting, solutions design and services scoping. The Sr Solution Architect (SA) draws on knowledge specific to the SA's primary technical specialization, Modern Infrastructure, as well as secondary areas, to assess, qualify, design, and present technology solutions of highly advanced levels of complexity to clients. The Sr SA offers insight relative to the customer's industry and/or objectives, and provides solutions based on Connection's Solutions and Services portfolio and extended partner network. The Sr SA works collaboratively with other pre-sales roles across the Technology Solutions Sales group, as well as other COE focus areas including Multi-Cloud, Digital Workspace, Supply Chain and Lifecycle.
The COE's Sr Solution Architect, Modern Infrastructure also maintains a pulse on the information technology industry and supports the COE Director in making recommendations to senior leadership for ways to capitalize on market opportunities, adopt new and emerging technologies, and to create competitive, market-aligned, saleable solution sets as well as differentiated solution and services offerings.
• Creates and delivers sellable solutions, based on a combination of requirements gathering, data collection and sizing exercises, and documented design and configuration activities. Utilizes internally-established presales tools, as well as vendor-provided and industry-established reference architectures and validated designs, while leveraging Connection's leading vendor and OEM product portfolios in a way that they can be efficiently and effectively combined into a holistic, integrated solution of product and services.
• Designs advanced solutions that serve the functional and technical requirements of the client, and which best enable the sale and/or delivery of solutions that contribute to the customer's success and ongoing enhancement of customer lifetime value.
• Assists in the development of new professional and managed services offerings according to a multi-disciplinary framework that best supports Connection's ability to deliver holistic, unified solution sets that result in positive customer experience (CX) and overall customer satisfaction. Articulates and presents the portfolio to Sales, to current and potential customers, as well as to Product Management (PM) and Connection's partners and vendors.
• Assists with the creation and presentation of technical sales strategies to drive growth of advanced technology solutions and services. Supports targeting sales into new accounts and expanding penetration in existing accounts.
• Develops and builds out Connection's physical and cloud-based labs, in support of technical enablement, delivery of customer-facing demos, development of new services offerings and ISG Plays, and maintenance of partner program requirements.
• Supports COE- and PM-driven organizational compliance efforts by earning and maintaining vendor certifications, accreditations, and competencies.
• May assist with delivery of professional services, remote (to premises or SaaS) or on-site. This may be performed in a team support capacity or as solitary delivery engineer.

Qualifications
  • VMware VCF 9 Architect VCP OR VCF 9 Administrator certifications and VCF 9 Proven Professional (Architecture or Implementation track) OR VCF 9 Certified Expert (Architecture or Implementation track) required
  • An understanding of leading manufacturers routing and switching architecture.
  • Experience with storage and virtualization products from leading manufacturers.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Converged Infrastructure concepts and the benefits that Cloud solutions provide.
  • Verifiably successful professional solutions selling experience with customer-facing salesmanship proficiency, advanced presentation skills, and experience with up-sell and cross-sell strategies.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to prepare and deliver presentations which clearly and articulately demonstrate the value proposition.
