What is a remote visual designer?

Remote Visual Designers are creative professionals who develop visual concepts and designs for digital or print media while working from a location outside of a traditional office, often from home. They use graphic design software to create layouts, illustrations, branding materials, and user interfaces, collaborating with teams virtually. Their primary focus is on aesthetics, ensuring that visual elements communicate messages effectively and align with a company's brand. Remote Visual Designers often work with marketing, web development, or product teams to create cohesive visual experiences.

As a remote visual designer, you work from home to create unique visuals that meet the needs of your employer, so your responsibilities vary from project to project. You usually work within specific guidelines, but some clients include you in the planning and concept development process. At Strategic Mission Critical, we are more than just engineers; we are experts focusing solely on mission critical facilities. Our seasoned leadership team brings together decades of experience, equipping data center providers worldwide with robust, reliable solutions that keep pace with the evolving digital landscape.
As demand for high-performance infrastructure accelerates - fueled by AI and the expanding digital landscape - SMC continues to lead through technical rigor and operational excellence. We're seeking leaders who think beyond projects to improve the way we deliver them: individuals who elevate people, process, and performance across the firm.
SMC is seeking an Associate ICT Designer to support telecommunications and low voltage design for mission critical and data center projects. This role will work closely with senior ICT designers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop coordinated construction documents and Revit models for complex facilities.
This is a great opportunity for someone with telecom design and Revit experience who wants to grow within a fast-paced mission critical environment supporting hyperscale and enterprise clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support ICT design for mission critical and commercial projects including data centers and critical facilities
  • Produce and update construction drawings and coordinated Revit models for Division 27 systems
  • Design and coordinate pathways, cable tray systems, conduit layouts, telecom rooms, and structured cabling infrastructure
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and architecture teams
  • Assist with clash detection, drawing coordination, RFIs, and construction documentation workflows
  • Review and apply client standards, design criteria, and applicable ICT industry standards
  • Support field verification efforts, existing condition documentation, and project coordination meetings
  • Collaborate with senior designers and engineers to support project delivery and deadlines

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-5 years of experience in ICT or low voltage design within an MEP, engineering consulting, or telecommunications consulting firm
  • Hands-on Autodesk Revit experience for production and drawing development
  • Experience supporting ICT infrastructure design including structured cabling, pathways, telecom spaces, and low voltage systems
  • Understanding of construction drawings, multidisciplinary coordination, and design workflows
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Familiarity with TIA, BICSI, or telecommunications industry standards

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mission critical or data center project experience
  • Exposure to construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination
  • Experience using Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or similar coordination tools

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Base Compensation: $75,000 - $125,000 / year
    • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skills and/or location
