Hearing Officer (Legal Administration)

Location: 100% Remote (Open to out-of-state candidates) Compensation: $36.00/hr Type: 8-Week Contract-to-Hire

Are you a legal professional with a JD looking for a high-impact, 100% remote opportunity? We are seeking 15 motivated Hearing Officers to join a critical Law Administration team for an Arizona-based organization. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented legal mind who excels at managing administrative proceedings, conducting thorough research, and ensuring the fair application of the law.

As this is a contract-to-hire position, we are looking for candidates who are ready to prove their value during the initial 8-week period and transition into a long-term career.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end hearing process, from initial evidence gathering to the issuance of final, legally binding decisions. You will serve as an impartial arbiter, ensuring all parties are heard and the process remains transparent.

  • Adjudication: Conduct formal hearings via telephone or in person; make evidentiary rulings, control the course of the hearing, and maintain a complete and accurate record.

  • Legal Writing & Research: Perform comprehensive legal research to issue legally sound decisions based on applicable statutes and regulations.

  • Case Management: Follow up on all issued decisions to ensure they are properly implemented and adhered to by all parties.

  • Public Interaction: Provide clear information to parties regarding the hearing process, assist them in navigating procedures effectively, and investigate/respond to customer complaints.


Candidate Requirements

This role requires a high degree of legal literacy and the ability to manage a heavy caseload while maintaining strict adherence to administrative law.

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) Degree is strictly required. (Candidates without a JD will not be considered).

  • Prior Relevant Experience: Hearing Officer / Administrative Law Judge experience. Demonstrated experience analyzing testimony and evidence, and issuing written decisions.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to conduct hearings via telephonic platforms and navigate digital legal research databases.

  • Core Competencies: Strong evidentiary ruling skills, excellent written communication for drafting decisions, and a commitment to impartial justice.

  • Availability: Must be able to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Mountain Time).
