Position Title: Middle School Mentor
Location: Remote

Reports to: Middle School Team Leader
Job Description Summary: The Middle School Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting the academic progress and engagement of middle school students at My Virtual Academy. This position involves regular communication with students to ensure they are active and engaged in their learning process, assisting with classroom management, and supporting curriculum teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend all required mentor training sessions.
  • Make one required two-way contact with each student weekly using various communication tools.
  • Achieve a minimum contact rate of 85% by Friday of each week.
  • Host Mentor Contact learning labs every Wednesday.
  • Update the Mentor Log daily with contact attempts.
  • Provide separate encouragement calls to students identified on the mentor roster.
  • Enter all communications, including attempts, into the Genius system.
  • Create weekly schedules to stay organized with student/parent requests for specific days/times and/or Zoom appointments.
  • Support curriculum teachers with attendance, technology, and classroom management during assigned learning labs.
  • Attend weekly team meetings, all staff meetings, middle school staff meetings, mentor meetings, support staff meetings, and 1:1 meetings with the lead as scheduled.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Lead Teachers or Middle School Coordinators.

Required Education and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in mentoring, teaching, or child development, especially in a virtual setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong familiarity with online educational platforms and communication tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain organized records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
