They may need to take immediate action by notifying authorities or clients of potential threats. Strong attention to detail and quick decision-making skills are essential in this role.

What does a remote video monitoring specialist do?

A typical day as a Remote Video Monitoring professional involves actively observing live or recorded video feeds from multiple sites, responding to suspicious activities or incidents, and documenting all noteworthy events. Most shifts are spent at a computer workstation in a quiet, secure environment, and teamwork is often required to coordinate coverage during high-alert periods. This role offers opportunities to learn new surveillance technologies, and experienced monitors can transition into supervisory or training roles as their careers progress.

To excel in Remote Video Monitoring, strong attention to detail, vigilance, and basic technical proficiency are essential, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent.
