Summary:

Chicago Magazine is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented college graduate for a paid, six-month Research Assistant position (with potential for extension). Working closely with writers, editors, and publicists, this role serves as a key pillar of our editorial team, focusing primarily on fact-checking and accuracy across our monthly feature stories. If you have an eye for precision and a strong knowledge of Chicago, this is a fantastic entry point into magazine publishing.

This role is remote, but open to Illinois-based applicants only.

What you will do:

  • Assist in fact-checking articles and ensuring the accuracy and credibility of information

  • Help in transcribing and organizing interviews and other audio/video content

  • Provide general administrative support to the editorial team as needed

  • Research assistants are encouraged to pitch ideas and write for various sections of the magazine

What you will bring:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in journalism, creative writing, literature, or a similar discipline

  • Experience fact-checking, researching, or writing for a magazine, newspaper, or other media outlet
