Job Description Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our team. JOB SUMMARY This role works independently or as a key member of a cross-functional team to identify, plan, develop, and implement database applications using AWS RDS, Postgres EDB, and other technologies. This position also serves as the primary contact for the Postgres database platform and handles related escalations

This role is responsible for creating and managing all database objects from design through deployment, applying expert knowledge to design or reuse, configure, and implement database solutions and processes that ensure high availability, efficiency, effectiveness, data integrity, recoverability, and ease of support. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Eight (8) years of experience managing Postgres databases within the EDB ecosystem, including five (5) years in cloud environments, preferably AWS, with strong expertise in managing databases like AWS RDS, security policies, user authentication, IAM, and AWS-based database administration. Working knowledge of Lambda, Python, Ansible, and Terraform.

Skilled in capacity planning and performance evaluation for AWS RDS and Postgres Distributed environments. Hands-on expertise with AWS RDS, EDB EPAS, and Postgres Distributed. Proven experience managing numerous RDS instances and multiple database versions on large-scale systems.

Familiarity with SQL best practices, reporting, and query tools. Extensive experience administering EDB Postgres in live production settings. Experience leveraging Performance Insights, RDS KPIs, and related performance management tools.

Deep technical and functional proficiency in PostgreSQL administration, including tools such as PgBouncer, PgPool, RDS Proxy, PGD Proxy, and associated binaries. Direct experience with monitoring and observability tools and practices. Proficient in configuring and maintaining complex RDS databases within AWS, including setup and support for high availability and resilience using Aurora Read Replicas and Global Database.

PREFERRED Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering field. Professional certifications in technologies such as AWS, CKA, or EDB. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Skilled in writing efficient and secure database code that upholds data quality, privacy, and protection.

Strong troubleshooting capabilities with the ability to assess alternative solutions and workarounds; excellent analytical thinking and interpersonal communication. Familiar with strategies and execution of Postgres SQL migrations between on-premises and AWS, including estimation and technical oversight. Solid background in database partitioning and sharding techniques.

Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines and automation using GitLab. Skilled in installing, configuring, patching, migrating, maintaining, and upgrading open-source database platforms such as PostgreSQL and AWS RDS. Knowledgeable in database design fundamentals, query tuning, index handling, data integrity checks, statistics, and isolation levels, with a firm understanding of ACID and BASE models.

Hands-on experience with tools like Jira, GitLab, Ansible, and Terraform. Capable of implementing sustainable and effective database coding standards that support architectural best practices. Proficient in managing PostgreSQL across multiple operating systems, including Linux (RHEL), and container platforms such as Kubernetes within OpenShift.

Accountable for reviewing patch releases, assessing development patch requests, and communicating potential constraints, issues, and deployment timelines. Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems and capable of using SSH to access remote systems with both password and key-based authentication. Practical experience handling daily operations for EDB, Postgres Distributed (PGD), and AWS RDS, including performing health checks, assigning tasks, and updating standard operating procedures.

Good understanding of batch processing and job scheduling automation. Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with demonstrated client-facing experience in problem identification, analysis, and resolution. Experienced in improving Postgres SQL performance using indexing and other optimization methods.
