This role partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, QA, and other cross-functional teams to establish reusable design standards, modernize legacy experiences, and improve product quality, accessibility, and scalability.

The Senior UX Designer - Design System combines expertise in visual design, interaction design, design systems, and front-end collaboration to create reusable components, guide product modernization, and influence the overall user experience strategy. This role also leverages AI-assisted design tools to accelerate design exploration, documentation, and prototyping while ensuring quality, accessibility, and user trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of DonorPerfect's design system to ensure product experiences remain consistent, scalable, accessible, and aligned with user needs.
  • Define reusable UI components, interaction patterns, design tokens, documentation, and governance processes that enable efficient product development.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce UX inconsistency, visual design debt, and outdated interface patterns across the platform.
  • Establish contribution standards that enable designers and engineers to propose, review, and adopt new design system components.
  • Maintain documentation and implementation guidance to support long-term adoption and scalability.

Product Experience Design

  • Design intuitive user experiences for complex fundraising, CRM, reporting, workflow automation, and payment solutions.
  • Translate complex business requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Modernize legacy product experiences while maintaining consistency across the platform.
  • Create reusable interaction patterns that improve usability and accelerate product delivery.
  • Use AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to rapidly explore concepts and validate design solutions.

Visual Design & Accessibility

  • Define and maintain visual design standards across typography, color, spacing, layout, iconography, motion, and responsive behaviors.
  • Ensure products meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and support inclusive experiences for diverse nonprofit users.
  • Review product designs to ensure consistency with design system standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Promote best practices for visual design, usability, and interaction design across product teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, QA, and other stakeholders throughout discovery, design, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure design components are accurately translated into production.
  • Present design rationale, research findings, and design system recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Mentor designers and promote best practices in design systems, accessibility, and AI-assisted workflows.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of component architecture, design tokens, and scalable UI frameworks.
  • Experience modernizing complex SaaS or enterprise applications while maintaining consistency and usability.
  • Ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive, reusable design solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience collaborating effectively within Agile product development teams.
  • Sound judgment in the responsible use of AI tools, including awareness of privacy, accessibility, bias, and when human review is required.

Education and Experience:

Required

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, Visual Product Design, or related roles supporting SaaS, enterprise, or digital products.
  • Proven experience designing and evolving design systems, reusable component libraries, and scalable UI frameworks.
  • Experience modernizing complex web applications and improving visual consistency across large product platforms.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design excellence, design systems, product modernization, and shipped product experiences.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional product teams.
  • Proficiency with Figma, FigJam, and design system workflows including libraries, components, variants, and design tokens.
  • Experience collaborating with frontend technologies such as Storybook, Angular, React, or similar component-based development environments.
  • Experience using AI-assisted design tools such as Figma AI, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable technologies to improve design workflows.
