CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Underground Utilities Project Manager to join our Gas Team as a seller/doerโ€”driving project execution, deepening client relationships, and delivering innovative solutions in Albany, NY; Norwell, MA; Syracuse, NY; or working remotely. This is your opportunity to lead impactful work, develop new business, and mentor future project leaders.


  • Oversee the full lifecycle of gas engineering projectsโ€”from scoping and proposal development to scheduling, budgeting, and quality management
  • Prepare proposals, project plans, project schedules, extra work authorizations, submittals, and project closeout documents to ensure on-time, compliant project delivery
  • Play a key role in client contract interpretation and relationship management by serving as the primary client contact, resolving issues, anticipating needs, and ensuring alignment across all project phases
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting, cash flow, resource allocation, and subcontractor payments
  • Act as a โ€œseller/doer,โ€ developing work with specific clients and leading marketing plan development for target market areas
  • Lead and mentor other Project Managers, setting vision and strategy, and supporting professional growth across the team

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in engineering, architecture, science, planning, engineering management or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 11 years of industry experience required; minimum of 8 years of project management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing client relationships and interpreting client contract requirements
  • Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations, and project closeout documents required
  • Proven ability to manage project accounting processes (budgeting, forecasts, cash management)
  • Ability to solve problems with urgency and independently drive initiatives from concept to completion while overseeing multiple projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required; knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, and/or Deltek Vision preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt style for various audiences and work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience utilizing problem-solving skills, exercising discretion, and making independent judgments required
  • Consulting industry experience and/or experience managing client relationships with investor-owned utilities highly preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed required
  • PMP certification, PE or equivalent professional license preferred
