Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a skilled and motivated Accessibility Subject Matter Expert. As an Accessibility Subject Matter Expert you will be responsible for providing expert technical support, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of a client application while ensuring accessibility, reliability, and optimal performance in an Agile, sprint-based development environment. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in digital accessibility and user experience design, utilizing tools such as Figma, conducting usability evaluations, and performing manual and automated accessibility testing to improve public-facing web applications.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support to maintain the client application
  • Provide support for development, enhancements, accessibility, integration, optimization, and maintenance
  • Ensure availability and correct operations
  • Work within a sprint-based development cycle
  • Utilize knowledge of the AWS cloud environment, Python backend and TypeScript front-end

Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in digital accessibility
  • Bachelor's Degree (3 years of additional experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience supporting user experience design and digital accessibility for public-facing web applications
  • Expertise with Section 508 compliance and WCAG standards
  • Proficiency with accessibility testing using manual and automated methods and tools
  • Proficiency with UX design tools
  • Experience with documentation of UX and accessibility findings and recommendations
  • Experience with usability evaluations
  • Experience working within Agile teams

Travel Requirements
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
