Job description

Clinical Coder

As an established Clinical Coder, you will play a key role in supporting the department in the accurate and timely coding of clinical activity. This will include managing a specialty portfolio and carrying out the coding function in line with local and national standards, rules and conventions. The coding team have an established track record for delivering high quality coding within an infrastructure that provides for inclusion, joined up working and a collaborative approach, marking an ideal opportunity for someone looking to be a part of this success and make a difference.

Please note that this is a fully remote working role and there is an additional 10% of salary paid for possession of the National Clinical Coding Qualification in addition to the 20% inner London HCAS. Previous applicants need not apply until 6 months after their last interview.

Main Duties Of The Job

The Clinical Coding Liaison Officer will be responsible for coding a range of specialties to a complex level in line with the needs of the service and under the guidance of their Specialist coder and Team manager. This will include effectively planning and configuring their work in a way that provides for both efficient and accurate outcomes both independently and as part of a team.

Ongoing engagement with clinical divisions is key to ensuring symmetry between clinician and coder, enhancing the understanding amongst clinical teams in regard to information required by coding, its use and purpose and the pivotal role that they play within the process. Therefore, this role will include fostering good working relationships with clinical leads, attending clinical forums where required and providing an effective interface between clinical teams and the service.
