Position Description
The successful candidate will teach core MSW courses (Practice, HBSE, Research, Policy)with the opportunity to update curriculum as well as develop new curriculum in their area of expertise. This is a remote position in our fully online MSW programThe MSW program has a trauma-informed focus from the lens of a Christian worldview.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Teach assigned courses in a30-credit load.
  2. Advise students.
  3. Help develop the academic, social, and spiritual dimensions of the students.
  4. Interview students for admission to the program.
  5. Assist with Information Sessions and other student recruitment and retention activities.
  6. Pursue a scholarly agenda of inquiry, presentation, and publication.
  7. Uphold the vision of the Social Work Department.
  8. Supports the continuous development of the Social Work Department.
  9. Honor the NASW Code of Ethics.
  10. Maintain compliance with CSWE accreditation standards.

Qualifications
  1. A required Doctorate or PhD (Social Work preferred), in addition to an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
  2. Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience.
  3. Record of teaching in a social work program particularly within online education.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Commitment to collaboration and shared decision-making.
  6. Embodiment of the values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and accountability.
  7. Commitment to treat each member of the Eastern community with fairness, dignity, and respect seeking a spirit of unity, harmony, and belonging as we join together to achieve our common mission.

Supplemental Information
The Social Work Department has five full-time faculty. The BSW program has been accredited by CSWE since 1974 and MSW program is also fully accredited by CSWE. The Social Work Department at Eastern University educates and prepares students to be competent advanced generalist (MSW) social work practitioners who are knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate representatives of God's mercy and justice in meeting common human needs with particular attention to vulnerable and oppressed populations and communities.

Adjunct faculty may be eligible for medical coverage under the ACA after an annual one year lookback review.
Part-time staff who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week schedule are eligible for employer contribution towards the retirement plan after one year of employment. Eligibility rules apply. Adjunct faculty may make employee deferral contributions towards the retirement plan.
Part-Time Graduate Assistant Coaches are eligible for participation in the Tuition Remission Coaches Program.
Temporary, Contractors and Seasonal Employees: Individuals in this status are scheduled on an as-needed-basis and are not eligible for participation in the University's benefits programs.
