Job description

Level: 5*
Salary band: $140,000 - $150,000 + Commission
Location: Remote / Customer-facing (Mid-West)
With US-based travel to customers as needed
*We welcome more senior candidates to apply for this role.
At Automata, we're on a mission to transform how scientists work by making automation accessible to every lab in the world. We believe that by giving labs the power to automate, we can unlock discoveries that will shape the future of life sciences-from diagnostics and drug discovery to synthetic biology.
But we're more than just a company disrupting the industry-we're a team of innovators, problem-solvers, and creators passionate about empowering scientists. Our LINQ platform combines hardware and software to streamline workflows, making lab automation fast, flexible, and affordable. This means our customers can focus on groundbreaking research, while we take care of the rest.
Why Work at Automata?
  • Impact: Your work will directly contribute to advancements in science and medicine, supporting labs around the globe as they push boundaries in research and innovation.
  • Innovation: You'll be part of a team solving complex problems (seriously, no one else has figured out how to do this yet), using cutting-edge technology (we have robots).
  • Growth: We invest in our people. Whether through hands-on experience, professional development, or collaborative projects, you'll grow both professionally and personally.
  • Community: Join a diverse, passionate team that values collaboration (golf on a Thursday, Soccer once a month, movie nights whenever we fancy it).

We're looking for a driven Territory Sales Manager to take full ownership of the Mid-West region, build pipeline, and drive revenue growth. Reporting to the Head of Sales, North America, you'll be the face of Automata in your territory-developing relationships, generating opportunities, and closing complex deals as a high-performing individual contributor within our growing US sales organization.

  • Build relationships, establish yourself as a trusted partner with key accounts, understanding their challenges and demonstrating how LINQ solves them
  • Drive pipeline - Identify and qualify new opportunities through both account expansion and new business development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, working closely with Applications, Customer Success, Service, and Product teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success
  • Deliver results by consistently achieving sales targets and quotas while maintaining forecast accuracy
  • Conduct live software demonstrations and product presentations that showcase LINQ's capabilities
  • Provide strategic insight by sharing market feedback, competitive intelligence, and territory performance analysis with leadership
  • Support marketing initiatives through partnering with marketing on territory-specific campaigns and lead generation efforts
  • Ensure CRM accuracy and adherence to sales processes
What You Bring
Essential

  • Strong understanding of automation workflows, lab hardware, or integrated software systems
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to work independently and achieve ambitious goals
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 40-50%) for customer site visits and national trade shows
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Track record of exceeding quota in complex technical sales
  • Experience selling to both academic research labs and biopharma/diagnostics companies
  • Consultative selling approach with the ability to navigate multiple stakeholders
  • Passion for the life sciences mission and enabling scientific discovery
