 The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing to and performing tasks within the ITS Application Virtualization department supporting LifePoint's virtualized application and desktop offerings including Operating Systems, Infrastructure, and middleware with proficiency which meets ITS/ Business expectations, and Customer Service Level Agreements. This position serves on project teams that require the department's involvement, develops best practices, provides departmental education, and provides guidance to less experienced team members. 

 How you'll contribute 

A Senior Systems Engineer who excels in this role:                                 

  • Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise Citrix environments, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Cloud, StoreFront, Workspace Environment Management (WEM), and Citrix ADC (NetScaler).
  • Design, configure, and maintain Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon) environments, including Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateway (UAG), App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM).
  • Develop and maintain application delivery strategies that ensure high availability, scalability, and security across multiple datacenters and cloud environments.
  • Publish and manage applications and desktops for both clinical and administrative users, optimizing performance and compatibility.
  • Integrate and support electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and other healthcare applications within Citrix and Omnissa environments.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to maintain alignment with HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal audit standards.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance using Citrix Director, Citrix Analytics, Horizon Console, and third-party tools such as ControlUp, Goliath, or eG Innovations.
  • Automate provisioning, maintenance, and reporting using PowerShell and other scripting frameworks.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects, including cloud or hybrid transitions.
  • Document infrastructure designs, procedures, and recovery plans to support operational excellence and business continuity.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and technical leadership for incident resolution, root cause analysis, problem ownership, and knowledge transfer to junior staff.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical support personnel on best practices and emerging technologies in virtual delivery.

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have an Associate degree in Information Technology or related field, and/or equivalent experience with 5+ years of experience with virtualized application/desktop delivery, as well as application layering and user environment management. Additional requirements include:

  • Strong understanding of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Cloud, StoreFront, WEM, and Citrix ADC (NetScaler

  • Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and user profile management.
  • Experience integrating and supporting EHR or healthcare applications in virtual environments.
  • Certifications: Citrix Certified Professional/Expert (CCP-V, CCE-V) and Omnissa Horizon or VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DTM) preferred
