Key Position Information

• FTE: 0.8 (64 hours per two-week pay period)
• Shifts: 8-hour day shifts
• Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Required every 4th
• Location Requirement: Must reside within 60 minutes of Allina Commons, Apple Valley, MN, or Coon Rapids, MN.
• Remote Work: Fully remote position, including orientation, with occasional onsite requirements.
• Cross-Training: Trained to handle medication refills.

Job Responsibilities

The role of nursing involves diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health issues. This includes forming a purposeful therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and patients and their families. As a leader and integrator of care, the professional nurse is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care needs.

Core Responsibilities

• Assessment:
  • Gather, prioritize, and synthesize comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health.
  • Engage with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to collect and prioritize data systematically.
  • Identify needs, patterns, and variances by integrating relevant data.
  • Utilize evidence-based assessment techniques for data collection.
• Diagnosis:
  • Analyze assessment data to establish nursing diagnoses.
  • Interpret information to identify patient needs based on age, development, and culture.
  • Formulate and communicate nursing diagnoses with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Document nursing diagnoses in accordance with patient care guidelines.
• Outcomes Identification:
  • Identify expected outcomes tailored to each patient.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to set realistic and measurable outcomes.
• Planning:
  • Create a plan that prescribes interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Develop individualized plans considering patient characteristics and situations.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices and adhere to regulations in care planning.
• Implementation:
  • Execute the established plan safely and appropriately.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions specific to diagnoses.
  • Document interventions according to established guidelines.
• Evaluation:
  • Assess patient progress towards expected outcomes.
  • Involve patients and families in the evaluation process.
  • Revise diagnoses and care plans based on ongoing assessments.
• Quality of Practice:
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Education:
  • Stay updated with current nursing practices through educational activities.
• Professional Practice Evaluation:
  • Regularly evaluate personal nursing practice against professional standards.
• Collegiality:
  • Support the professional growth of peers and colleagues.
• Collaboration:
  • Work with patients, families, and others in nursing practice.
• Ethics:
  • Maintain ethical standards and advocate for patients.
• Research:
  • Incorporate research findings into practice.

  • Plan and deliver patient care considering safety, effectiveness, and cost.

  • Provide leadership within the professional setting.
• Environmental Health:
  • Practice in a manner that promotes environmental safety.
• Charge Nurse (when applicable):
  • Coordinate unit operations to meet patient and family needs.
• Preceptor (when applicable):
  • Identify learning needs and plan appropriate experiences for new staff.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's or Vocational degree in nursing
• At least 3 years of RN experience
• Proficient in computer technology, including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in triage, anticoagulation, or remote nursing support

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Minnesota required
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Wisconsin required by the end of orientation

Physical Demands

This position is primarily sedentary, requiring occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs and negligible weight frequently.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is between $40.08 and $54.93 per hour. The starting salary will be influenced by various factors, including experience, education, and applicable agreements. Additional differentials may apply for specific shifts or weekend work.
