Litigation Career Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Career Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in one of the following offices: Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Irvine (Orange County), Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Seattle, Silicon Valley (Menlo Park), or Washington, D.C. Fully remote arrangements may also be considered.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience to join a highly regarded Litigation practice. This is a long-term, non-partnership-track Career Associate position designed for attorneys seeking sophisticated litigation work, meaningful client engagement, and a sustainable work-life balance while continuing to build their legal careers.

Responsibilities
  • Support all phases of complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.

  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.

  • Manage discovery, including document review, e-discovery, and production.

  • Assist with deposition preparation, witness preparation, and trial preparation.

  • Coordinate case strategy and litigation workflow while managing multiple matters simultaneously.

  • Collaborate closely with litigation teams to deliver practical, high-quality legal solutions.

  • Maintain strong organization and attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with the applicable state bar.

  • 7+ years of complex civil litigation experience.

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.

  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other substantive litigation filings.

  • Experience managing discovery, including e-discovery.

  • Strong case management and project management skills.

  • Experience supporting depositions and trial preparation.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong academic credentials.
