Who We Are

Atwell, LLC is a bold leader in the consulting, engineering, and construction services industry, delivering a broad range of creative solutions to clients in the real estate & land development, and energy markets. We have a strong national presence and a diverse, award-winning project portfolio. Atwell is a privately owned company, with 2,000+ passionate team members across 75+ locations and growing!

Atwell, LLC is a proud recipient of the following 2025 awards:

  • Ten consecutive years in a row as a "Best Place to Work" by Zweig Group (#11)
  • Recognized as #70 in the ENR Top 500 Design Firms, ranked in every region
  • Recognized in Crain's "Fast 50" as one of the fastest-growing companies (#14)
  • Recognized as the 2025 ENR Design Firm of the year for the Southeastern US

Atwell is seeking an Associate Project Manager to support a major energy utility client across a portfolio of land and right of way (ROW) projects. In this role, you'll partner closely with a Project Manager while building the skills to independently manage project delivery—from planning through execution—while developing strong client relationships.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone ready to step into project leadership, gaining hands-on experience managing scope, budgets, schedules, and land acquisition efforts tied to critical energy infrastructure.

While this role is remote, proximity to Michigan is strongly preferred due to regular client engagement and regional travel.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Support the Project Manager in implementing project plans, including scope, schedule, staffing, and budgets
  • Monitor project progress, analyze performance, and proactively address risks or delays
  • Coordinate land and ROW activities including easements, rights of entry, surface agreements, and related documentation
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure compliance with Atwell quality standards
  • Assist in managing project financials, including budgets, invoicing, and tracking performance

Team & Client Coordination

  • Serve as a key point of coordination between internal teams, subconsultants, and clients
  • Help assemble and support project teams, ensuring alignment and productivity
  • Communicate project updates clearly to stakeholders and leadership
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and mentor junior staff as you grow in the role

Business Development & Growth

  • Support proposal efforts, presentations, and client follow-ups
  • Help identify opportunities for continued or expanded work within existing client relationships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners

Professional Development

  • Continue building technical expertise across land, engineering, and project delivery disciplines
  • Participate in professional organizations, training, and industry events to expand your network and knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Planning, Land Surveying, or related field
  • 4 years of experience in land, engineering, environmental, or project coordination roles (energy/utility experience required)
  • Exposure to land and ROW projects, including easements, property rights, or acquisition support
  • Understanding of project lifecycle management, including budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across teams and with clients
  • Experience with tools such as Deltek Vision or similar project management systems is a plus
  • Professional certifications (AAPL, SR/WA, PE, RLA, etc.) are a plus
