FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT/REVENUE REPORTING

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Bureau of Financial Management, reporting to the Revenue Reporting/Revenue Management, Cash Receipts and Accounts Receivable sections. This position requires knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures. The position also requires excellent data collection skills.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Auditing receipts to determine the correct revenue source and accounting codes;
  • Researching receipts to apply to customer accounts;
  • Reconciling receipt batches to checks entered in RAMS;
  • Entering and reversing receipts in RAMS to be returned to customers;
  • Processing revenue received through Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR);
  • Depositing remote receipt batches daily to the bank;
  • Ensuring change in custody of funds is logged by maintaining appropriate signatures;
  • Maintaining a pending file and following established procedures to escalate issues;
  • Answering incoming telephone calls; and
  • Opening, date stamping, sorting, and distributing incoming mail.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant's immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting.  This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

 

NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
