Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Development Assistant supports and collaborates with Design, Production, Technical Design, and Merchandising to develop the ready-to-wear assortment while ensuring the design vision is met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Product Development team with daily operations.
  • Coordinate with Design, Production, Technical Design, and Merchandising.
  • Follow up extensively with factories on garment sample due dates (X-dates).
  • Maintain sample/mock tracking charts.
  • Receive, sort, steam, and log incoming samples.
  • Request mock-ups from vendors for embroideries, denim treatments, and specialty techniques.
  • Pull and consolidate color standards at end of each season
  • Manage duplicate samples for Technical Design for fittings.
  • Manage sample closet organization and clean-outs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of Product Development experience.
  • Experience with PLM systems is an asset but not required.
  • Understanding of the product cycle from concept through production.
  • Knowledge of textiles, garment construction, hand sewing and patterns.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with contemporary fashion aesthetics.

$65,000 - $70,000 base salary (This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NY- based position. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience and qualifications for the role, experience, level, skillset and balancing internal equity relative to the other AO employees.)
