Overview

iDirect Government is dedicated to providing next generation solutions for broadband IP networking via satellite networks. The Professional Services Engineer (PSE) works on site at a location in Tampa, Florida as a member of the iDirect Government (iDirectGov) Operations Department and Professional Services team, serving as an onsite technical point of contact for the Customer. The PSE is the primary interface for the Customer and Partners from the Professional Services team, in the development, design, implementation, and management of training and professional services required in support of iDirectGov network components. The PSE's excellent organizational, planning, and communications skills are critical. The PSE must exhibit superb time and resource management while working solo and as part of a two person iDirectGov team. The Customer environment demands that the PSE be resilient and reliable in high pressure, no-fail situations.

Responsibilities
  • Candidate must present a professional image to the customer and represent iDirectGov in an appropriate manner.
  • Candidate must lead through demonstration and continuously champion new innovative ideas and processes while improving existing methodologies.
  • Candidate will be required to work in-person, on site, with availability for after hours phone-based support.
  • Candidate will be responsible for:
    • Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) characterization within an iDirect Government TDMA environment.
    • Systems engineering tasks, such as working with teleport personnel to verify IF patching and with satellite providers to bring up RF carriers.
    • Identification of satellite network design shortfalls and communicating solutions to the customer.
    • Identification of failed hardware and subsequent RMA processing.
    • Technical writing of best security practices based on customer operations.
    • Trend analysis and daily operational support as needed.
    • Worldwide implementation of a multiple hub, terrestrially connected network.
    • Performing system and equipment integration in accordance with customer-approved documentation, drawings, test plans, and procedures.
    • Providing technical support during the integration of hardware and software systems or subsystems.
    • Providing recommendations for improvements on integration and maintenance of iDirect/iDirectGov systems, subsystems, or components.
    • Participating in mission planning and developing solutions to support world-wide missions.
    • Providing system hardware and software documentation, including system operator manuals, equipment maintenance manuals, operator guides, and operating system software.
    • Developing methodologies and implementation strategies for iDirect/iDirectGov systems optimization.
    • Delivering the iDirect Operation and Maintenance course as needed by the customer.
  • Candidate must attend regular briefings and provide detailed status reports to management.
  • Candidate must communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both internal and external.
  • Candidate will direct and manage on-site support projects, coordinate intentional outages, and work with remote individuals.
  • Candidate will support new equipment installations, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Candidate should have 10 years of experience operating Strategic and Tactical SATCOM Networks.
  • Candidate should have experience in Cisco and iDirect Group Quality of Service (QoS) implementation.
  • Candidate should have 5 years of experience supporting iDirect Hub systems.
  • Preferred: Linux Administrator such as Linux+ or RHCSA.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Candidate must be certified in iDirect Operation and Maintenance.
  • Candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in technical experience.
  • Candidate must possess Security+ Certification
  • Candidate must possess or have ability to obtain Cisco CCNA Certification

Travel Requirements:

Candidate will be required to travel to multiple global locations annually (up to 25%).

Security ClearanceCandidate must have a minimum Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI capable.
