What is a remote telesales agent?

A Remote Telesales Agent is a sales professional who works from a location outside of a traditional office, such as their home, and sells products or services over the phone or through online communication tools. Their main responsibilities include making outbound calls to potential customers, handling inbound inquiries, and closing sales. They may also be responsible for following up with leads, maintaining customer records, and meeting sales targets. Remote telesales agents need strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. Many companies offer training and use specialized software to support remote telesales teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote telesales agent?

To thrive as a Remote Telesales Agent, you need strong sales acumen, persuasive communication skills, and experience in customer relationship management, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, VoIP calling systems, and basic data entry tools is typically required. Exceptional listening skills, resilience, and the ability to build rapport over the phone set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for consistently meeting sales targets and maintaining positive customer interactions in a remote work environment.

How do remote telesales agents typically collaborate with their team while working from home?

Remote Telesales Agents usually collaborate with their team through regular virtual meetings, instant messaging platforms, and shared CRM tools. These channels allow agents to discuss sales strategies, share updates on leads, and receive feedback from supervisors. Despite working independently, agents often participate in team huddles or training sessions to stay aligned with company goals and maintain a sense of camaraderie. Effective communication and proactive engagement are key to overcoming the challenges of remote teamwork in this role.

What We’re Looking For

  • Able to follow structure, not “wing it”
  • High integrity — no games, no pressure-pitch
  • Coachable and competitive
  • Objection-handling skill or willingness to develop it
  • Ability to control the flow of a conversation
  • Prior sales experience
  • 100% Remote -> MUST be native using online tools

Company Description

The Solar Scouts® is a residential solar and energy storage company built around performance, accountability, and long-term customer outcomes.

Unlike many solar companies, we operate with a fully integrated in-house model — marketing, sales, engineering, permitting, installation, and post-install support are all handled internally. That means faster installs, higher realization rates, and fewer broken promises to homeowners.

Our sales organization is structured around clear KPIs, transparent scoreboards, and tiered compensation tied to real performance. We don’t cap earnings, we don’t play games with commissions, and we don’t rely on pressure tactics. We train our team to sell consultatively, set proper expectations, and close deals that actually install.

The Solar Scouts® is built for disciplined, coachable professionals who want their income tied directly to results — not tenure, politics, or luck.
