Job description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a fully remote Triage Nurse opportunity supporting patient care through telephone-based symptom assessment and clinical triage. This position is ideal for nurses who possess strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to confidently assess patient needs in a remote setting.


This is a contract position through January 2027 with multiple full-time schedules available. Video participation is not required for meetings; however, employees must maintain a private work environment to ensure HIPAA compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct telephone-based nursing assessments and symptom triage
  • Utilize critical-thinking skills to determine the appropriate level of care
  • Provide patient education and clinical guidance
  • Escalate urgent and emergent concerns according to established protocols
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the EMR
  • Collaborate with providers and care teams to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain HIPAA standards and patient confidentiality while working remotely


Required Qualifications

  • Active New Mexico RN License or valid Multistate Compact RN License
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
  • Recent experience in one or more of the following:
    • Emergency Department (ED)
    • Urgent Care
    • Ambulatory/Clinic Setting
    • Medical-Surgical Nursing
    • Inpatient Adult Nursing
    • Inpatient Pediatric Nursing
  • Strong critical-thinking and clinical assessment skills
  • Proficient computer and technology skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Telehealth and/or remote triage experience
  • Patient triage experience
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR
  • Telephone symptom triage using Schmitt-Thompson protocols
  • Emergency Department experience
  • Urgent Care experience
  • Medical-Surgical experience
