Relative Dynamics is a subcontractor supporting Commercial Space contract. In this role, you will be employed by Relative Dynamics and assigned to work on projects in support of Commercial Space project. This position is remote.

As a Front-End UI/UX Engineer you will build the mission-operations interfaces that enable real-time control of our spacecraft and launch vehicles. Operators depend on these applications for commanding, telemetry visualization, anomaly response, and situational awareness across the full mission lifecycle.

This is primarily a front-end engineering roleyou will develop high-quality, performant UI components and full application views using React, Redux, TypeScript, and modern web technologies. But we are also seeking someone who brings a designers eye for usability, layout, and workflow clarity. You should be comfortable gathering input from operators, translating mission workflows into user flows or wireframes, and shaping the UI experience before implementing it.

What Youll Get to Do:

  • Develop modern, responsive, and polished mission-operations UIs using React, Redux, TypeScript, and related technologies.
  • Translate operator workflows and abstract requirements into user flows, wireframes, and intuitive UI behaviors.
  • Collaborate with mission operators, GNC/FSW engineers, and systems engineers to understand operational use cases and constraints.
  • Implement interfaces for telemetry visualization, command authoring, system health monitoring, timelines, alerts, and real-time data displays.
  • Ensure that UI components are reusable, maintainable, well-tested, and optimized for real-time or high-volume data.
  • Refine the visual and interaction design of critical workflowseven in the absence of a formal design system.
  • Conduct lightweight user testing and incorporate operator feedback into UI and workflow improvements.
  • Work closely with backend and DevOps teams to integrate with APIs, WebSockets, and streaming data sources.
  • Participate in code reviews, front-end architecture discussions, and continuous improvement of UI development practices.

What Youll Need:

Required

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing front-end web applications.
  • Strong proficiency in React, Redux (or other state management), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Ability to design UI workflows and produce wireframes or prototypes when needed.
  • Experience building user interfaces for complex, data-dense, or real-time systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of interaction design principles and how they influence implementation choices.
  • Experience collaborating directly with users or operators to gather feedback and refine UI behavior.
  • Familiarity with front-end testing, performance optimization, and modern build toolchains.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in a cross-disciplinary environment.
