Remote Telecom Oss information

What are some common challenges faced by remote Telecom OSS professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Telecom OSS (Operations Support Systems) professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating with geographically dispersed teams, managing system outages, and maintaining secure remote access to sensitive network infrastructure. Effective communication through collaboration tools, establishing clear protocols for incident response, and staying updated on cybersecurity best practices are essential for overcoming these obstacles. Additionally, remote OSS teams often rely on detailed documentation and regular virtual meetings to ensure everyone stays aligned and informed about ongoing projects or issues.

What is the difference between Remote Telecom Oss vs Remote Telecom Network Engineer?

AspectRemote Telecom OssRemote Telecom Network Engineer
CertificationsTelecom-specific certifications (e.g., Cisco, Juniper)Networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP)
Work EnvironmentOperations centers, field sites, remote monitoringDesign, implement, troubleshoot network systems
Industry UsageTelecom service providers, network operatorsTelecom companies, ISPs, network providers

Remote Telecom Oss focuses on managing and maintaining telecom operations, often involving remote monitoring and troubleshooting. In contrast, Remote Telecom Network Engineer emphasizes designing and implementing network solutions. Both roles require telecom and networking certifications and are integral to telecom industry operations, but they differ in daily tasks and focus areas.

What is a Remote Telecom OSS?

A Remote Telecom OSS (Operations Support System) is a software platform used by telecommunications companies to manage, monitor, and optimize their network infrastructure remotely. It enables network administrators to oversee operations such as provisioning, fault management, performance monitoring, and configuration management without needing to be physically present at network sites. This allows for efficient troubleshooting, automation, and maintenance of complex telecom networks, often from centralized or distributed locations. Remote OSS solutions are essential for ensuring network reliability, reducing operational costs, and enabling rapid response to technical issues.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Telecom OSS (Operations Support Systems) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Telecom OSS Specialist, you need a strong background in telecommunications networks, data management, and systems integration, often supported by a degree in engineering or IT. Familiarity with OSS/BSS platforms, network monitoring tools, and certifications like Cisco or TM Forum Frameworx is typically required. Analytical thinking, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective remote communication set top performers apart in this field. These skills ensure efficient network operations, rapid incident resolution, and seamless collaboration across geographically dispersed teams.

We're looking for an experienced Data Analytics Engineer to join our Network Data Solutions team. In this role, you will combine deep telecom data expertise with technical acumen and problem-solving skills to design and deliver high-quality data products that enable our network and engineering teams to make informed, data-driven decisions.

You'll work closely with network operations, engineering, and technology partners to understand their needs, document requirements, and translate them into scalable data solutions. You'll also analyze existing processes and data pipelines to identify improvement opportunities, proposing smarter, faster, and more reliable ways to deliver insights that drive network performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. You will leverage your expertise in data design, data engineering (ETL/ELT), and business intelligence to develop solutions from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with network and technology stakeholders to understand business objectives, challenges, and data requirements across areas such as network performance, reliability, capacity, and customer experience.

  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of telecom data domains and source systems, including network inventory, provisioning, assurance, fault, and performance data.

  • Lead the creation of BTS (BRD Technical Specification) documentation, translating business logic into clear technical solutions.

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data products that support operational and strategic reporting - from ingestion through transformation, modeling, and visualization.

  • Evaluate existing data processes and models to identify opportunities for standardization, optimization, and automation.

  • Propose and implement innovative solutions that improve data accessibility, quality, and usability for network teams.

  • Develop scalable data models using dbt and Snowflake aligned to modern data architecture principles.

  • Build and orchestrate ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring efficiency and reliability.

  • Write and optimize SQL and Python code for advanced data manipulation, automation, and validation.

  • Facilitate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) with business partners to ensure data solutions align with real-world operational needs.

  • Design and deliver dashboards and reports using Power BI, Sigma, and Tableau that translate complex network data into actionable insights.

  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to maintain alignment across the broader data ecosystem.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for network-related data and analytics, mentoring others on telecom-specific concepts, sources, and logic.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI roles - preferably supporting telecom or network operations.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, dbt, and Python for data transformation and automation.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric for pipeline orchestration and data lakehouse management.

  • Advanced experience building and optimizing Power BI, Sigma and/or Tableau dashboards.

  • Deep understanding of telecom data domains, including (examples you can customize): 1) Network inventory and topology systems (e.g., NMS, OSS, GIS); 2) Fault, performance, and capacity management data; 3) Provisioning, activation, and service assurance systems

  • Proven ability to analyze complex business problems, identify gaps in existing processes, and propose scalable data solutions.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps).

  • Experience implementing data quality frameworks and metadata management practices.

  • Background in network engineering analytics, service performance monitoring, or customer experience analytics.

  • Knowledge of telecom industry KPIs and metrics (e.g., uptime, MTTR, capacity utilization, throughput, etc.).
