Job description

Job Title: Software Quality Assurance Specialist and Procedure Writer Type: Long-term Contract Work Model: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute plans for creating, organizing, and tracking Software Quality Assurance (SQA), administrative, and operating procedures across the full software lifecycle.
  • Translate ASME NQA-1-2022 Subpart 2.7 requirements into step-level, role-specific procedural content with acceptance criteria and records requirements.
  • Ensure procedures comply with company standards, NRC regulations, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, INPO criteria, and other relevant standards.
  • Maintain traceability between procedure content and NQA-1-2022 Subpart 2.7 requirements, including updating the Requirements Traceability Matrix.
  • Support audits, self-assessments, and reviews to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in SQA and procedures.
  • Engage with industry peers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to identify innovative practices and integrate best practices into procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline procedure reviews with IT, QA, engineering, operations, procurement, finance, and legal teams.
  • Facilitate review cycles, comment resolution, approval workflows, and procedure walkthroughs for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain auditable records of all procedure activities within the EDMS, ensuring proper versioning and classification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent nuclear industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in nuclear SQA program ownership, controlled procedure development, or nuclear IT governance.
  • Knowledge of ASME NQA-1-2022 Subpart 2.7 software lifecycle requirements, including grading, verification, acceptance testing, and change control.
  • Practical understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B criteria as applied to software and IT systems in a nuclear environment.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory standards and produce clear, actionable procedures accessible to diverse teams.
  • Experience writing procedures that interface across QA, IT, engineering, and operations within a controlled document environment.
  • Strong technical writing skills with focus on clarity, accuracy, and compliance traceability.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with smart procedures or electronic procedure tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with a commitment to procedural excellence.
  • Self-starter with ability to develop innovative solutions independently.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in plant design, procedures, schedules, and regulatory requirements.
