What is a remote technical manager?

A Remote Technical Manager is a professional who oversees technical teams and projects while working from a location outside the traditional office. They are responsible for leading technical initiatives, managing remote teams, ensuring project milestones are met, and facilitating communication among team members. Remote Technical Managers use digital tools to coordinate work, monitor progress, and resolve technical challenges, all while fostering a productive and collaborative remote work environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote technical manager?

To thrive as a Remote Technical Manager, you need a solid background in software development or IT, proven leadership experience, and often a relevant degree in computer science or engineering. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira or Asana), cloud platforms, and certifications such as PMP or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are commonly required. Job description

Senior Technical Writer
Department: Product Management
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: US
Reporting To: Erinn Gerry
Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 / year
Description
Care Lumen | Remote (US Only)
Employment Type: Full-time Employee
Salary Range: $90000 to $110000
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Writer to help shape the documentation experience for a modern healthcare technology platform. In this role, you will lead the creation and evolution of high-quality product documentation that enables customers, internal teams, and healthcare professionals to successfully adopt and use complex SaaS solutions. Your work will transform technical functionality into clear, accessible, and user-centered content that supports every stage of the product lifecycle.
As a key partner to Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Technical Support, and Enablement teams, you will ensure documentation is delivered alongside new product releases, reflects evolving product capabilities, and meets the highest standards for accuracy, consistency, and usability. You will also contribute to documentation strategy, content governance, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the overall customer experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for a documentation professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced SaaS environment, collaborating across disciplines, and creating content that drives product adoption, customer success, and operational excellence within a highly regulated healthcare technology industry.
What You'll Do
  • Own documentation planning for assigned product areas, managing priorities, stakeholder reviews, timelines, and release readiness.
  • Create clear, customer-facing documentation that translates complex product functionality into intuitive guidance for clinical, operational, and administrative users.
  • Develop release notes, product guides, and enablement materials that support successful product launches and customer adoption.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and available at launch.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Technical Support, and Enablement teams to maintain consistent, up-to-date product knowledge across customer-facing organizations.
  • Maintain documentation governance by managing content lifecycle, version control, archival processes, and consistency across documentation platforms.
  • Identify documentation gaps through customer feedback, product changes, support trends, and stakeholder input, recommending improvements that enhance the user experience.
  • Lead documentation audits and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure content quality, usability, and long-term maintainability.

What's Required
  • Technical Writing: 6+ years of experience creating technical documentation for SaaS products or complex enterprise software environments.
  • Content Strategy & Information Architecture: Strong ability to organize complex information into intuitive, user-centered documentation that is clear, accurate, and easy to navigate.
  • Documentation Management: Experience planning, prioritizing, and managing multiple documentation initiatives while balancing competing deadlines and evolving business priorities.
  • Editorial Excellence: Exceptional writing, editing, and content review skills with strong judgment on when documentation requires incremental updates versus complete restructuring.
  • Product Development Knowledge: Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Product Development Lifecycle processes, with the ability to collaborate throughout the release cycle.
  • Documentation Tools: Experience using MadCap Flare or similar documentation management platforms.
  • Project Ownership: Proven ability to work independently, drive documentation initiatives, and thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong communication skills with experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Technical Support, and other stakeholders.
  • Availability: Ability to align with Eastern Time working hours.
  • Healthcare Technology: Experience working within healthcare technology, clinical workflows, care management, or other regulated industries.
  • AI-Enabled Documentation: Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate documentation workflows, including drafting content, summarizing technical information, identifying consistency issues, and streamlining review processes.
  • Product Adoption Platforms: Experience with Pendo or similar digital adoption and product guidance platforms.

Compensation & Benefits
The expected total cash compensation for this role is market-driven, with an expected starting salary of $90000 to $110000. Salary is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
