Job description

MACC, a division of Harris; is seeking a Software Engineer who enjoys understanding systems deeply, solving challenging customer problems, and helping evolve software that businesses depend on every day.

Curious about how complex business software really works?

Our platform processes critical billing and customer operations for organizations that rely on stability, accuracy, and performance. As we modernize our products and architecture, we're seeking someone who can bridge the gap between established systems and modern technologies.

This is a role for engineers who enjoy asking "why," digging into complex problems, and continuously learning.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in the US. Preference will be given to candidates who can work in CST timezone.

Salary:

70K - 85K

AI & Innovation Mindset

We are committed to leveraging emerging technologies to improve how we work, serve our customers, and drive business outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate curiosity and a willingness to actively adopt and leverage AI tools to improve workflows, solve problems, and increase efficiency. Candidates should be comfortable using AI enabled technologies, including copilots, chat based AI assistants, and automation tools, as part of their everyday work while maintaining appropriate judgment, security, and compliance standards.

What your impact will be:

  • Investigate and solve complex customer and production issues that require both technical expertise and curiosity.
  • Work across the full lifecycle of our products, from diagnosing issues to designing and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to the modernization of established software products into a modern architecture built with Angular and Java.
  • Collaborate with Product, Support, QA, and Engineering teams to improve customer outcomes.
  • Analyze existing systems to understand business logic, identify opportunities for improvement, and help shape future solutions.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute ideas that improve scalability, maintainability, and user experience.
  • Build relationships with customers and become a trusted technical resource for solving business-critical challenges.

What Makes This Role Interesting

  • Complex real-world business processes.
  • Large, mature codebases with years of accumulated domain knowledge.
  • Modernization projects that require thoughtful engineering decisions.
  • Direct customer interactions that provide immediate feedback and impact.
  • A mix of technologies, including Delphi, Angular, Java, SQL, APIs, and cloud-ready architectures.
  • You'll have the opportunity to learn how enterprise software evolves over time and play a key role in determining what comes next.

Why Join Us?

  • You'll help shape the future of a platform that customers rely on every day.
  • We're looking for engineers who enjoy learning, exploring, and improving systems; not just writing code. If you're energized by solving difficult problems, understanding complex software, and helping modernize products that matter, we'd love to talk with you.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience developing software in Delphi or similar strongly typed languages.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • A genuine curiosity about how systems work.
  • Interest in both maintaining and improving existing applications while helping build modern solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, teammates, and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with databases and SQL.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and contribute across multiple areas of the product.

What would make you stand out:

  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or modern front-end development.
  • Experience with Java or backend services.
  • Knowledge of APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Experience supporting production applications.
  • Exposure to billing, financial, utility, or enterprise software systems.

What we can offer:

  • 3 weeks' vacation and 5 personal days
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits starting from your first day of employment
  • Employee stock ownership and RRSP/401k matching programs
  • Lifestyle rewards
  • Remote work and more!
