As a Digital Architect at Raytheon, you will build and apply Digital Technology Architecture practices across both strategic and tactical activities. This team of senior architects leverages common frameworks, processes, and technology patterns to create trusted, compliant and reusable solutions supporting business and supply chain applications, factory operations, and engineering product development.

You will collaborate with peer enterprise and solution architects, stakeholders and leaders across organizations to ensure the operating model and key activities are executed, documented, and organized across our Digital team. You will be accountable for our team cadence, program activities, and extended team collaboration events. You will participate in and contribute to our architecture repository, knowledge base, and standard work.

In this role, you will leverage established architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, Scaled Agile, DoDAF) to guide and organize our work. You will provide coaching on architectural and agile best practices and mentor teams across the directorate to strengthen their architectural mindset.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for creating and owing solution and portfolio architectures and associated artifacts through all phases of the TOGAF Architecture Development Method using Cameo and ArchiMate for formal modeling notations.
  • Participate in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agile Release Train (ART) teams in the Architect role.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to agile development teams, to ensure the intended architecture is realized and best practices and standards are followed.
  • Lead technical and design discussions with business teams and executive stakeholders to align on requirements.
  • Help manage backlog, risks, opportunities, and focus areas to ensure visibility and team prioritization.
  • Mentor front-line technical staff to elevate technical abilities and prepare them to step into the role of a solution architect.
  • Use and develop consistent architecture patterns and practices across multiple teams.
  • Support application portfolio optimization and modernization through process and system transformations.
  • Partner with infrastructure, networking, and cloud teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Interact with functional and program teams, corporate service teams, and outsourced providers to guide application deployments and system migrations.
  • Advocate for architecture by building key influence relationships and socializing architecture contributions across Raytheon.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to promote productivity and reduce friction in delivering work products.
  • Contribute to Digital Technology’s architecture practice by partnering with enterprise architects on shared principles, strategies, and implementation techniques.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience
  • Experience leading and implementing technology transformation initiatives.
  • Experience architecting, designing, integrating, and deploying enterprise-grade applications.
  • Experience deploying and hosting applications with AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud providers.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience working as an Architect within agile frameworks, methodologies, and tools, such as Scrum, SAFe, Toyota Production System, etc.

  • Experience deploying and integrating large-scale software solutions in a highly regulated and secure industry environment through all lifecycle phases, using infrastructure as code and deployment automations.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
