What is a Remote Tax Technology professional?

A Remote Tax Technology professional specializes in using technology to improve and automate tax processes for organizations, all while working from a remote location. They often work with tax software, data analytics, and systems integration to support compliance, reporting, and planning. These professionals may also help implement new tax technologies, troubleshoot issues, and train staff on digital tax solutions. Their goal is to make tax operations more efficient, accurate, and up-to-date with current regulations—all without needing to be in a physical office.

How does collaboration typically work for Remote Tax Technology professionals within distributed teams?

Regular virtual meetings, clear communication protocols, and shared documentation are key to ensuring alignment and efficient workflow. While working remotely offers flexibility, it also requires proactive communication and strong time-management skills to stay connected and deliver projects on time. To thrive as a Remote Tax Technology professional, you need a solid grounding in tax law, accounting principles, and information technology, often supported by a degree in accounting, finance, or computer science. Familiarity with tax software (such as Thomson Reuters, Wolters Kluwer, or SAP), data analytics tools, and relevant certifications like CPA or Enrolled Agent are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and clear communication are essential soft skills for interpreting complex regulations and collaborating virtually. These skills ensure accurate tax compliance, effective technology implementation, and seamless remote teamwork in a fast-evolving digital landscape.

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based)
Type: Full-Time

Advisory-focused client work
Fully remote, flexible environment
You won't just prepare returns—you'll help clients understand, plan, and make better financial decisions year-round.
What You'll Be Doing
Prepare individual & business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120/1120S, 1041, 990)
Work with business owners, partnerships, and real estate clients
Assist with tax projections, planning, and advisory conversations
Support client onboarding and deliver a strong client experience
Research tax issues and support technical analysis
Collaborate with a high-performing, remote team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Accounting or related field)
3-5+ years of public accounting experience
Experience with business + individual tax returns
Active CPA or EA required
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working in a fully remote, fast-paced environment
Why This Role
No billable hour pressure
Advisory-focused work (not just compliance)
Fully remote flexibility
Exposure to high-level client work
Senior Supervisor Manager (clear advancement path)
Work in a firm where client relationships and advisory actually matter—not just turnaround time
Additional Perks
Performance-based bonuses (not just metrics)
Strong work-life balance outside of busy season
Modern, tech-forward firm environment
Bottom Line
If you're looking to build real tax expertise—not just churn through volume—while working with a modern firm that actually practices what others preach, this is absolutely worth a conversation.
