Job description

Senior Tax Manager | Fully Remote | $190K–$220K + Bonus

Most Senior Tax Manager opportunities give you a bigger book, more returns to review, and more hours to manage. This one gives you a legitimate path to ownership—without giving up your life to get there.

A sophisticated tax, accounting, and advisory practice is adding a Senior Tax Manager after another year of organic growth.

This is a fully remote opportunity anywhere in the U.S. with a $190K–$220K base, bonuses paid twice a year, flexible PTO, no minimum overtime requirement, and a genuine path to Principal, Partner, and ultimately equity ownership.

The client work is equally compelling. The practice specializes in family offices and real estate private equity sponsors, with significant exposure to complex partnerships, HNW individuals, multi-generational trusts and estates, private foundations, and closely held businesses.

This isn't a high-volume compliance shop. You'll own sophisticated client groups, some with 100+ entities, work directly with clients on complex planning and technical matters, and lead the professionals supporting those relationships.

What makes this one different
  • $190K–$220K base + bonus paid twice annually
  • 100% remote anywhere in the U.S.
  • No minimum overtime requirement — the focus is on the quality of your work, not logging hours for the sake of it
  • Clear progression to Principal and Partner with an opportunity for equity ownership
  • Practice has grown consistently and primarily organically through referrals
  • Sophisticated client base concentrated in Real Estate, Family Office, HNW, Trust & Estate
  • Deep, long-term client relationships rather than transactional engagements
  • Exceptional tenure across the team, including Partners and Principals who have spent decades with the practice
  • Flexible PTO + 4% 401(k) match
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage beginning day one
  • Paperless, technology-forward environment actively using AI to eliminate manual work
  • Fully onshore team
What you'll own
  • Review complex partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, individual, gift, and private foundation returns
  • Manage sophisticated client groups with multiple entities—some exceeding 100 entities
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for clients and develop solutions around complex tax and business matters
  • Lead tax planning and special projects requiring technical judgment and creative problem-solving
  • Apply advanced partnership and real estate tax knowledge across 1031 exchanges, 704(b), 754 elections/step-ups, 163(j), QBI/199A, PTET, non-recourse debt allocations, and cost segregation
  • Oversee and develop tax professionals through hands-on technical coaching and mentorship
  • Handle federal and state examinations and assist with tax controversy matters
  • Work closely with seasoned Partners and Principals while continuing to expand your own client responsibility
  • Spend the majority of your time reviewing and advising, with occasional preparation of particularly complex real estate partnership returns when needed
What you'll bring
  • CPA required
  • 8–12 years of public accounting experience
  • Strong preference for experience within a mid-to-large local or regional public accounting firm
  • Deep partnership tax experience
  • Meaningful real estate tax experience
  • Strong accounting foundation in addition to technical tax expertise
  • Experience managing complex client relationships and multi-entity structures
  • Experience leading, training, and mentoring tax professionals
  • Strong technical knowledge across partnership allocations, 1031 exchanges, 754 elections, 163(j), 199A/QBI, and PTET
  • Multi-state experience
  • Trust, estate, and/or private foundation experience is a plus
  • International tax exposure is a plus
  • Lacerte, QuickBooks, and CCH Engagement experience is helpful
Why this is worth a conversation

There are plenty of firms that will offer a Senior Tax Manager more money to manage more work.

This opportunity is built differently.

Fully remote. $190K–$220K base. Two bonuses a year. No minimum overtime requirement. Sophisticated real estate and family office clients. And a path that can ultimately lead to equity ownership.

The practice has grown year after year largely through referrals, and this hire is being made because that growth is continuing—not because someone walked out the door.

If you've built the technical foundation and client credibility but don't want your path to Partner to require sacrificing everything outside of work, this is worth a confidential conversation.
