• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying individual care needs and support strategies.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to address emotional challenges related to aging, including loneliness, grief, and adjustment disorders.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create and implement comprehensive care plans that encompass all aspects of the patient’s well-being.
• Educate family members, caregivers, and staff on effective techniques and strategies to foster emotional well-being and enhance the quality of life for elderly clients.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for clients and their families navigating end-of-life issues, ensuring empathetic support during these difficult conversations.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs that promote mental acuity and engagement in elderly individuals.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs of seniors, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive counseling.

Your primary focus will be on elderly individuals, particularly those facing significant life transitions, such as retirement, the loss of loved ones, and health-related challenges. You will work with a diverse group of clients, each requiring a tailored approach to address their specific mental health needs while being sensitive to their cultural backgrounds and personal histories.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in Washington State.
• A minimum of four years of direct experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Specialization or additional training in aging-related issues and geriatric mental health.
• Proficiency in delivering therapy to elderly clients coping with diverse mental health challenges.
• Solid understanding of research-based interventions that enhance mental well-being in older adults.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to connect effectively with elderly clients and their families.

• Experience conducting mental health assessments and formulating individualized treatment plans for elderly patients.
