• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their unique psychological needs and challenges.
• Deliver tailored individual and group counseling sessions to address issues such as grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders related to aging.
• Develop and implement effective treatment plans, ensuring that they are adapted as needed based on the progress and feedback from clients.
• Educate family members and caregiving staff on effective strategies to enhance emotional well-being, providing them tools to better support their loved ones.
• Conduct specialized grief and loss counseling both for clients facing end-of-life issues and their families, allowing them to process their experiences in a safe environment.

Your primary focus will be working with elderly individuals who face various mental health challenges due to life transitions, loss of loved ones, or age-related disorders. This specialization requires an understanding of the psychological impacts of aging and the ability to adapt therapeutic techniques to this unique population. You will also engage with families to provide holistic support, impacting not just individual client outcomes but family dynamics as well.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or a related mental health support role, demonstrating an understanding of the unique needs of the elderly population.
• Proven experience offering mental health services, particularly in group and individual counseling sessions.

• Experience working in outpatient settings, specifically with elderly clients.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms to effectively deliver counseling services remotely.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers and rehabilitation specialists.
• Training in grief counseling or working with clients experiencing end-of-life issues is highly desirable.
