Duties
Help

• You will serve as a Marine Expeditionary Special Warfare Safety Specialist with a focus on tactical operations safety.
• You will provide recommendations and technical assistance to Division Head concerning parachute operations, high risk training, tactical operations (including special operations), support equipment and mishap investigations.
• You will provide safety expertise for safety programs via on site safety assessments, inspections and analysis used for developing guidelines, regulatory requirements, and safety recommendations.
• You will conduct quality control assessments of investigations, reviews, reports, coded mishaps etc. to ensure accurate and data consistency.
• You will perform trend analysis of data to develop, control, and reduce or eliminate hazards by originating and editing safety advisories, lessons learned, and published safety awareness articles.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position requires performing agility and dexterity movements to conduct mishap investigations, inspections, safety surveys on and off sites, e.g., along roadways, in buildings, operation facilities, warehouses, or industrial complexes worldwide.
• You will be exposed on a regular and recurring basis to industrial machines and tactical equipment in operation, hazardous materials including compressed gases and flammable liquids, construction hazards,
• You will be exposed to temperature extremes (-30 to +120 degrees), hazardous sites and material, dust, fumes, high noise levels, wind, sand, blood borne pathogens, and environments of fumes and smoke as encountered.
• This position may require you to deploy (world-wide) with military units in order to conduct tactical operations safety assessments or conduct safety investigations.
• You must be physically able to perform job requirements and must maintain medical, dental and other personal readiness standards, such as wills, powers of attorney, family care plans for single parents, passports, etc., required for deployment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing recommendations and technical assistance concerning parachute operations, high risk training, and tactical operations, to support the mission of reducing mishaps.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
