The location preference for this role is the Miami, Florida area.Overview

We're looking for a talented Principal Consultant who specializes in Tableau to help our customers gain tangible value from their data. Our consulting services emphasize analytics enablement, data visualization, data preparation, and data science. We specialize in Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, Omni, Alteryx, KNIME, Power Platform, and Snowflake.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver on project-based consulting engagements and help clients develop analytical requirements through prototyping and visualization.
  • Manage client expectations by leading weekly status reports, facilitating working sessions, and proactively soliciting feedback to keep engagements aligned and moving forward.
  • Create, publish, and optimize Tableau reports, dashboards, and workbooks; diagnose visual and data issues; and recommend improvements to datasets, extracts, and visuals to improve usability and performance.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and tune product performance or deployment issues when required, and implement durable fixes when problems arise.
  • Support backlog management and development activities across client engagements.
  • Identify and recommend functionality and solutions to meet and enhance user requirements.
  • Recommend best practices to optimize data models, dashboards, platform architecture, and Tableau environment performance.
  • Own the development of the technical project approach, help manage the backlog or project plan, and execute on a focused set of high-value tasks within team engagements.
  • Own the long-term vision around analytics strategy and tool selection, provide escalation support, and contribute to phData's broader analytics community through mentorship and thought partnership.
  • Mentor junior consultants and help raise the bar on performance, utilization, and project delivery across the team.
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience and/or demonstrated expertise in data analytics and data visualization platforms in an enterprise environment.
  • 3+ years of external consulting experience.
  • Expertise in Tableau development, data visualization, and data modeling in enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data fluency and communicating effectively with business users and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong SQL experience leveraging data warehouses, data marts, and/or data models, ideally in Snowflake environments.
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills, including strong communication and project management capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for learning and mastering new technologies, techniques, and procedures.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience scaling Tableau at an enterprise level and recommending platform modernization or optimization strategies.
  • Experience leading teams of consultants and mentoring more junior team members to ensure strong performance and delivery outcomes.
  • Data preparation experience using Alteryx or KNIME, or similar tools such as Matillion, Dataiku, or Coalesce.
  • Experience with Snowflake and cloud services on AWS and/or Azure relevant to analytics and data platforms.
  • Experience with Tableau administrative automation using command-line tooling, scripting, or the Tableau REST API.
  • Tableau certifications.
