POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania State University Department of Chemistry is seeking to fill an Administrative Support Assistant - Intermediate in its main administrative office.

Duties include the following:

  • In addition to faculty search, faculty meetings, and other miscellaneous department events (holiday party, faculty award celebrations, etc.), this position serves as the event coordinator for the department's Career Network and Recruitment Fair (CNRF) each fall, Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) each summer, and Bioinorganic Workshop every other summer.

  • Provide administrative support to the Department Head, to include maintaining their calendar, scheduling and providing administrative support during faculty meetings, working with department head to create yearly faculty committee assignments and to maintain faculty dossiers, prepare nomination packets, and track submission deadlines for faculty awards.

  • Provide all administrative support for annual faculty recruiting, to include collecting and coordinating circulation of applicant materials, arranging search committee meetings, and composing full itinerary for each candidate.

  • Coordinate collection of data for surveys (Midwest Chairs, ACS, etc.).

  • Provide administrative support on special projects as assigned by Department Head, Administrative Coordinator, or Supervisor. Responsible for routinely monitoring/maintaining and updating departmental web pages to ensure the content is not out of date. Provide back-up support to others in the main administrative office.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: None
