What does a Remote Swimming Pool Designer do?

A Remote Swimming Pool Designer creates customized pool designs for residential or commercial clients, working entirely online or from a remote location. They use design software to draft plans, visualize pool layouts, and collaborate with clients through virtual meetings or digital communication. The role involves understanding client needs, ensuring safety and local regulations are met, and delivering detailed plans that contractors can use for construction. Remote designers may also provide 3D renderings, material recommendations, and ongoing support throughout the design process.

How does a remote swimming pool designer typically collaborate with clients and construction teams during a project?

As a remote swimming pool designer, collaboration is primarily achieved through digital tools such as video conferencing, CAD software, and project management platforms. You'll often meet with clients virtually to discuss their vision and present design concepts, revising plans based on their feedback. Coordination with construction teams is essential, so clear communication and detailed documentation are key to ensuring your designs are accurately interpreted and implemented on-site. Being proactive and responsive helps build trust and keeps projects on track despite the physical distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Swimming Pool Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Swimming Pool Designer, you need a solid background in landscape or architectural design, proficiency in CAD software, and ideally a degree in a related field. Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3D rendering platforms, as well as knowledge of local building codes, is typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and project management skills set top designers apart by ensuring clients' visions are translated effectively into practical designs. These skills are crucial for delivering functional, safe, and visually appealing pool projects while working efficiently in a remote environment.

Senior Product Designer

Senior Product Designer

Swimply

San Francisco, CA โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO

Re-posted 5 days ago

Job description

Swimply is an online marketplace that allows homeowners to share their passion spaces with their local communities. We started with swimming pools which took us to $50M+ in 4 years, but pools are just the beginning. We're creating a new category within local experiences. Think Airbnb for swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and homes by the hour!

The Role

As our Senior Product Designer, you'll sit at the intersection of design and marketing, owning end-to-end experiences that delight our guests and hosts while driving measurable growth. You'll shape the visual language of Swimply across product surfaces, and you'll apply product marketing instincts to tell compelling stories that convert browsers into bookers and homeowners into hosts.

Responsibilities
  • Own the design lifecycle: Lead design for web and mobile features, from research and wireframes to high-fidelity UI and shipped experiences
  • Design with a growth lens: Collaborate with Growth, Product, and Ops to test and iterate on flows that lift conversion, activation, and retention
  • Product marketing crossover: Shape go-to-market narratives for new features, collaborating on positioning, messaging, and campaign design
  • Systematize design: Expand Swimply's design system to scale consistency across user journeys and partner touchpoints
  • Cross-functional leadership: Work with Product, Ops, and Engineering to ensure design decisions tie back to growth and brand goals
  • Champion the user: Advocate for host and guest needs through research, testing, and thoughtful design tradeoffs
Why This Role Matters

Swimply is scaling rapidly, and design is central to how we differentiate. As our first in-house design hire with product marketing instincts, you'll define the look, feel, and storytelling that drives our next $100M in bookings...and beyond.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years in product design, with a strong portfolio of consumer-facing experiences
  • Proven ability to design for conversion, growth, and storytelling (not just visual polish)
  • Experience in product marketing: positioning, messaging, campaign integration, either in a hybrid role or through close collaboration
  • Fluency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, etc.) and comfort with analytics/experimentation tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude)
  • Comfort in fast-paced startup environments, bias for shipping and iterating
  • Bonus: experience designing for two-sided marketplaces or community-driven platforms

Benefits

  • Competitive cash + equity package
  • Comprehensive medical, dental & vision; unlimited PTO
  • Remotefirst culture (U.S./Canada)
  • Plenty of pool (and pickleball!) time
  • Opportunity to work directly with the founder inside a highgrowth marketplace rewriting the way 2million+ guests escape locally every year
