Job description

Systems Engineer (Senior-Level)

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a Senior-Level Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and evolution of mission-critical GEOINT capabilities across the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and partner federal agencies. This position is ideal for an experienced systems engineering professional who thrives in complex environments and can lead the development of innovative solutions that ensure timely, accurate, and reliable geospatial intelligence mission outcomes.

Your Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the full systems engineering lifecycle, guiding teams responsible for requirements engineering, solution development, systems integration, testing, and enterprise analysis. You will collaborate with government stakeholders and engineering teams to translate mission needs into actionable solutions, ensuring seamless integration of systems, services, and processes across organizational and agency boundaries. Your expertise will help drive strategic technical planning and the successful delivery of enterprise-level GEOINT capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor mid-level and junior systems engineers across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Guide requirements engineering, solution development, integration, testing, evaluation, and sustainment activities.
  • Analyze and maintain traceability between user requirements, architectures, and technical solutions.
  • Assess cloud service capabilities, workflows, processes, and scheduling limitations to improve mission effectiveness.
  • Develop solution designs based on mission requirements and emerging technologies.
  • Translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements.
  • Support requirements allocation across system architectures and executing programs.
  • Perform and oversee systems integration activities.
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Support strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design efforts.
  • Integrate multiple systems, services, processes, and interfaces across major acquisition programs and organizational boundaries.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical or scientific field, including:
    • Engineering
    • Physics
    • Mathematics
    • Operations Research
    • Engineering Management
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology

    • Related STEM disciplines
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted:
    • 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree, or
    • 2 years of additional relevant experience with a non-STEM degree
  • 12+ years of experience supporting government or industry programs in one or more of the following areas:
    • DoD/IC Acquisition Processes
    • Requirements Development Processes
    • PPBES Processes
    • Systems engineering for large, complex System of Systems environments
    • Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA)
    • Cloud, on-premises, or hybrid infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully complete a polygraph.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NSG, ASG, and NRO enterprise environments.
  • Previous NGA and/or NSG/ASG program experience.
  • Previous Intelligence Community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) program experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical or scientific discipline.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
    • Digital Engineering methodologies and tools
    • Software Development Frameworks
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
