Job description

Novella is building AI to protect the largest, most complicated assets in the world. Whether it's a rocket going to space or a high-rise building on the coast, Novella is building the first AI native specialty insurance brokerage.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced wholesale broker who embraces technology and innovation, and is excited to build and scale their book of business along with scaling and building a new company. We want you to love insurance but hate how inefficient it is.
The ideal candidate is a senior wholesale broker with experience selling commercial property and/or general liability coverage. In addition to years of experience, you should bring with you strong client and underwriting relationships. Those relationships will be the foundation on which you start building your book with Novella, but ultimately you'll be expected to grow your book and team meaningfully as we scale.
Your primary job will be selling insurance and building client relationships. But as with any startup, the ideal candidate is excited to do whatever it takes to push Novella forward.
What you'll do
  • Collaborate with management to set quarterly revenue & agency appointment goals and own the success of those goals.
  • Engage with retail brokers to introduce them to Novella, and develop long term relationships growing Novella's submission pipeline.
  • Use Novella's system to help retail brokers find coverage by submitting quotes to carriers and managing the whole process from submission to bind.
  • Negotiate competitive quotes with markets

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years managing broker relationships at a national or regional level in the wholesale E&S market.
  • Active P&C and surplus lines license (ideally country wide, but not required).
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial E&S markets and coverage - specifically commercial property and general liability.
  • Someone flexible who understands every day at an early stage startup is like a decade in the corporate world. We move quickly and do whatever needs to get done no matter your title.
