Job description

Position Summary

The Surplus Lines Representative is responsible for handling semi-routine assignments related to surplus lines documentation, ensuring accuracy in filings, and supporting day-to-day operations. The role provides support to the Surplus Lines teams, stays informed about industry changes, and participates in customer outreach initiatives. They collaborate with branch offices, contribute to maintaining tax tables, and assist during internal and external audits.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:
Works on semi-routine assignments related to surplus lines documentation, recognizing the accepted practices, utilizes online systems to retrieve, organize, and delivers surplus lines filings.
Supports operational activities by working closely with branch offices and accounting team to ensure proper procedures are followed within the Surplus Lines team.
Helps the Surplus Lines teams during internal and external audits, ensures that all requested documents and information are readily available and in compliance with audit requirements.
Serves as a liaison for the Underwriting and brokerage team in day-to-day relations with Operations to ensure all questions are answered and accounts are serviced in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the account processes to ensure the ultimate account servicing is provided.
Stays informed about industry changes, company policies, and procedural updates, ensures compliance with established guidelines, and follows established procedures on routine work.
Participates actively in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge of surplus lines principles, policies, and procedures.

Completes timely surplus lines state tax returns using designated state forms and formulates respective checks and requests for payment of surplus lines tax if applicable.

Maintains filing systems for each policy, tracks critical dates and deadlines, and ensures readily accessible documentation for internal audits and external inquiries.

Required Experience:

A minimum of 1 year of Surplus Lines experience is required.
Experience with multi-state tax filings is strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience:

Bachelor's degree; Business Administration, Economics, Operations or related field.

The target hourly rate range for this position is $22.25 - $25.00 per hour.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands.
