Job description

What You’ll Do

As a Tax Manager, you’ll work with a diverse client portfolio, providing strategic tax services and leading a team of professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing complex tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates, and trusts
  • Conducting tax research and resolving unusual tax matters
  • Responding to IRS notices and advising clients on tax strategies
  • Managing multiple clients, budgets, and production goals
  • Supporting business development through prospect meetings, proposals, and fee quotes
  • Identifying opportunities to expand services and improve client experiences
  • Participating in professional organizations, conferences, and client education workshops
  • Leading in-house training and contributing at least two articles/blogs per year
  • Recruiting and building relationships with potential hires
  • Entering time and expenses promptly to ensure efficient billing


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory role
  • Managing staff performance, deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Coaching, training, and developing staff at all levels
  • Conducting performance reviews and evaluations
  • Planning and organizing multiple projects simultaneously


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Active California CPA license required
  • 5–7+ years of public accounting tax experience with a track record of increasing responsibility
