To thrive as a Remote Sublimation Printing Specialist, you need a solid understanding of graphic design, color management, and fabric or substrate compatibility, often supported by experience or relevant coursework. Familiarity with design software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, RIP software, and sublimation printing hardware is typically required. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective remote communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure high-quality, accurate output and smooth collaboration in a remote production environment.

What is remote sublimation printing?

Remote sublimation printing is a process where designs or images are digitally created and then transferred onto materials, such as fabrics or ceramics, using heat and special sublimation ink—all managed from a remote location. Individuals working in remote sublimation printing typically handle tasks such as preparing artwork, operating printing software, coordinating with clients, and managing orders without needing to be physically present in a printing facility. This setup allows for greater flexibility and can be done from home or any location with the necessary equipment and internet access.

Sublimation uses heat transfer on specially coated items, while screen printing involves applying ink through stencils. The main differences lie in the equipment, materials, and types of products produced, but both roles require design skills and industry knowledge.

What are some common challenges faced when working remotely in sublimation printing, and how can they be addressed?

One of the main challenges in remote sublimation printing is ensuring consistent color accuracy and print quality without direct oversight of physical equipment. Communication with on-site staff is key, as remote workers often rely on digital proofs and virtual collaboration to troubleshoot issues. To address these challenges, it's important to establish clear file preparation guidelines, use color profiles, and maintain regular check-ins with the production team. Investing time in thorough documentation and remote monitoring tools can also help maintain high standards and streamline the workflow.

Job description

Description
Overview
The Senior Manager of Pre-Production Operations owns the end-to-end pre-production process for licensed sports apparel, ensuring all artwork and licensing processes is produced, reviewed, and approved in compliance with brand, quality, and league licensing standards before it advances to manufacturing. This role is fundamentally operational-driving process discipline, workflow efficiency, and on-time delivery across a team of approximately 10 direct reports and a broader organization of 50+ individuals. Additionally, the candidate will manage key external relationships with licensors such as the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and others.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable analyzing operational data, implementing processes and managing production workflows-understanding that artwork must be fully produced, licensed, and approved before a single garment can be manufactured. They are able to translate data and reporting into actionable operational plans, identify business risks before they materialize, and lead a large team with clarity and accountability. This role requires strong judgment, an ownership mentality, and the ability to move seamlessly between strategic planning and day-to-day execution. This role is also cross-functional in nature and the candidate needs to be comfortable collaborating with other departments and teams. #LI-Remote
